(45,002 posts)Right wingers in denial spouting one crackpot conspiracy theory after another. It dawned on me that Infowars may actually be a war on facts and numbers and other truths things. Keep digging.

(19,066 posts)Trump being Trump has created a ton of enthusiasm on our side. GOTV.

(2,056 posts)The only group in Florida he hasn't pissed off at this point are the redneck keyboard jockeys who only leave their mobile home long enough to swing by the Seven Eleven to buy another twelve pack of Pabst Blue Ribbon beer in the can. They're too busy clicking and refreshing to vote for Trump on meaningless online polls to actually go register to vote for real.

(34,136 posts)My most right wing in laws - the husband is a dominionist type Christian, ex- Air Force, extremely right wing, gives Bill O'Reilly books as Christmas presents - are NOT voting for Trump!
This is a complete shocker to me! My husband who relayed the information doesn't know for sure who the family is voting for - there are five kids old enough to vote and his sister - but he thinks they might vote for Johnson. That may not be as good as votes for Clinton but at least they will not be voting for Trump.
They live in Bay County, a very very red part of the Panhandle because of all the active duty and retired military that live there.

(34,136 posts)That family will never vote for a Democrat - double for a woman or a non-white person. Seriously from them, Johnson is an improvement over what they usually select for their votes. Given their history, I will be happy that they might vote for Johnson.

(2,056 posts)You can't guilt people into voting for someone, especially when you are trying to attract people who normally vote for the opposition. All that does is push them away. That argument is only relevant with people on the far left anyhow. The Republicans weren't likely voting for Nader. It is important to educate the younger voters about what CAN and DID happen when people voted for a third party candidate that stood no chance of winning, though.

Gore could have survived the Nader effect if it wasn't for that Butterfly Ballot. He also could have survived with a full recount in Florida if it wasn't for the Supreme Court.

(25 posts)I asked about it at the local DWC HQ (they have the best operation in Panama City), and they weren't counting on it. Seems the DWC women wear a Hillary pin or some other tip off so that people they register are more likely to be supporters. The paid party collectors have a quota and register as many as they can some of which may be Republican leaning.
At least that was my understanding of what I was told.
I can't help to think though that with those numbers we would come out with some advantage.

(34,136 posts)That pretty much weeds out the Republicans. He works out of the FDP HQ in Tallahassee on an irregular basis. They are very happy with their numbers. I don't know the totals but they registered a LOT of students arriving on the FSU, FAMU, and TCC campuses the weekend before Hermine hit.
We did a four day training for voter registration, sending people to do it, and phone banking out of my house. My estimate was that our team registered about 50 people over those four days and made about 1200 calls. The team that covered the campuses was registering a few hundred voters a day!
