Trump is not really the problem

The problem is that so many people (still) support him, and that he is the embodiment of an accepted culture (i.e success of Howard Stern, etc.)
I am not a HRC fan and voted for Bernie in the primary. However, I will vote for her in the general election without hesitation.
My concern is with the Trump supporters and the fear that in his (resounding, I hope) defeat they will create a new party based on his promotion of hate as a platform.

His remarks from Access Hollywood represent a culture that was prominent in the 70's and still exists. The Republican efforts to defund Planned Parenthood are a symptom of this culture, and their rejection of Trump is a symptom of their hypocrisy.
I wish that instead of trying to find out whether his remarks were translated into actions, the media would denounce the general demeaning of women, the efforts to repeal freedom of choice, and the cult of physical appearance as a criterion of acceptance in society.

Whether or not he actually carried through his claims, is relevant to the women involved - I hope they can find some solace by legal means, without having to pay anything - , but should not be constantly explored by the media, as if his remarks were not enough...they are enough, and as Michelle Obama pointed out, they should not be considered normal, even if he didn't do anything. His supporters probably think they are a sign of manliness, and Michelle thankfully pointed out otherwise.
But the lack of intelligent commentary on the culture he represents and which includes a lot of accepted Republican policies, is painful...

I do suspect there will be intimidation and violence on election day and after.... perhaps before.

I hope we are wrong, and that they will collapse with a whimper instead...

.......At the end of the ugliest political season any of us has ever seen, the need to be responsible for one another has new relevance. Trump, those running his hate-filled campaign and the weak leaders of the Republican Party (witness the recent unendorsing and re-endorsing of Trump based not on principle but political calculation) are directly to blame for the damage they’ve done to democracy and civil society. But we are all responsible for creating the environment that allowed Trump to rise. And we are all responsible for repairing our broken politics so this can’t happen again.

But the Trump fiasco has been more than two decades in the making, going back to Newt Gingrich’s destruction of civility, Bill Clinton’s personal misconduct, a Supreme Court that, in Bush v. Gore, delegitimized democracy, George W. Bush and Dick Cheney squandering the warm courage of national unity after 9/11, a bipartisan cycle of revenge in Congress, angry liberals portraying Bush as a war criminal, the fury and racial animus of the tea party and the birthers, GOP leaders too timid to tamp down the excesses, and Supreme Court decisions that allowed anonymous groups to spend unlimited sums poisoning the airwaves with vicious and false political speech........

every day just to stay afloat. The problem with Trump supporters is they are mad at the wrong people. Instead of being angry at corporations taking control of government , setting up giant monopolies so competition is non existent , insurance doing everything they can NOT to honor the policies they charge insane amounts for little coverage while bleeding every penny from them. To elected officials who bow to the whims of the special interests and billionaire masters. Because of Fox entertainment , Rush and the thousands like them the people are mad at blacks,Muslims,Mexicans,China, planned parenthood,Jews, liberals, climate change, solar and wind power, because of the non-stop bullshit they hear day after day after day. People should be mad but because of the I believe anti American anti government traitorous spin by Fox etc. have destroyed this country and THEY should be investigated thoroughly and prosecuted.
