Related: About this forumClinton to Seattle backers: If you know Trump voter, 'stage an intervention'
Hillary Clinton wasn't dishing out the red meat to her paying supporters at the Paramount Theatre in Seattle on Friday afternoon, but she delighted in dissing Donald Trump and lacing her partisan message with serious issue talk.
"If anybody is voting for Trump, please stage an intervention," she quipped, to a roar from the crowd. "They must care about something you care about."
The Democratic presidential nominee spelled out the reward for such an intervention, saying: "If we do our job, in 25 days Donald Trump will stop being on the news."
(edited out the part about her not being a passionate speaker.... not so nice news reporting....)

(18,672 posts)I have a friend who is an evangelical. She's a pretty cool, open-minded, artistic lady, but like many evangelicals I know, they really start to cling to their religion when times are tough and she gets that way as well. My mom was like that, too, but came around before she died and even went out for Obama in 2008. She loved Hillary and I will be thinking about her when I vote (to get off the subject here briefly). I have noticed Jesus signs and Bible scriptures start popping up when they're going through a rough period, then they start to dwindle when things are good. I understand that. Hey, whatever pulls you through this life on planet earth and as long you aren't hurting anyone by bashing them over the head with your Bible.
She told me she's undecided. I was shocked. In digging deeper, I found that it's about the wedge abortion issue. I told her my personal story about that, then let her know that even when Bush had majorities, he didn't even try to ban it. "Republicans aren't going to ban abortion, and Liberals aren't going to take away all the guns". There's too many on both sides of these issues who will push back.
I also let her know that Trump has been consistently vile for over 30 years on the public stage and he won't change. She already knows this and doesn't agree with the things he or his crowd are doing, what little she knows. She doesn't watch Fox news, but is limited to the broadcast networks for her news and is not so informed on the worst of it.
I honestly think that some evangelicals will vote for Trump, believing "God" will remove him which will enable Pence to step in. She didn't come out and say this, but I am familiar with this mindset, and she did say something to the effect that "you never know what will happen". She's also been brainwashed on Hillary so I tried to convey that this has been going on since the 1990's - many are lies and people uncomfortable with a woman being aggressive and navigating very comfortably in what people have been indoctrinated as being a man's world.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Her other friend in Florida is a big Hillary supporter. I know she'll pray about who to vote for, which isn't comforting, but the fact she is a decent human being lets me know she'll not vote for Trump.
