The Obama's Help Out at Food Bank Over Thanksgiving

WASHINGTON, Nov. 21 (UPI) -- President Barack Obama and his family spent an hour Wednesday assembling bags of food at a Washington food bank and giving them to needy families.

The president, first lady Michelle Obama and their daughters Malia and Sasha were joined at the Capital Area Food Bank by Oregon State basketball Coach Craig Robinson, the first lady's brother, and members of his team.

A smiling President Obama asked each person who received a bag of food how they were doing. A White House aide said the bags included carrots, apples and sweet potatoes -- including one that elicited an exclamation from Obama about how large it was.

... that this is not just a campaign thing.
If Mittens was elected, think you would have seen him there?
Not on your life!

I've been around over half a century and have never seen the kind of compassion from the President that Obama has shown. I've always believed that neither the d' or the r's had what his country needed as far as ideas and compassion for the majority of the people. I've always seen placating of the wealthy regardless of party, and statutes, regulations and laws favoring the upper incomes. *Income Redistribution* claimed by the r's is what the d's want has been happening for a century at least... from the lower incomes to the upper incomes. Relentlessly. The r's call it capitalism when it works in their favor, income redistributon when it doesn't. It's time for a lot of that income redistribution. The wealthy call it Class Warfare. So be it. It NEEDS to happen.

I must admit, though I'm disappointed with what got done during his first term, given the republicrat obstructionism going on, he was able to accomplish and extraordinary amount of policy. Even if you discount the republicrat temper tantrum, he still got a lot done. I am impressed with the man. No doubt.

Now, if only the dems would grow a backbone and act as a party instead of a bunch of individuals, we could really get some stuff done to help this country, those without jobs and the underemployed people like me ($11/hr no med. ins) get better jobs so we can contribute to the economy the republicrats are griping so much about but doing nothing to help the situation.

The Deficit is not the most pressing problem facing our nation. All this talk about spending cuts and revenue increasing and benefits reduction and solvency is for the most part moot and can be resolved by getting the unemployed jobs capable of supporting their families and the under-employed better jobs. Increasing the rates of the upper incomes I totally agree with. They have been living the gravy train life on bisquit wheels for far too long. It has to be made clear that when the rich pay more, everybody does better... including the wealthy.
