2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumA friend told me she only marks her ballot for President, and votes for no one else.
I could not believe it. I hope I convinced her to give Hillary a congress that will work with her and vote across for other progressive candidates.
This made me wonder if other people vote the same way as her. Maybe a few ads on the importance of voting the full ticket would be helpful????. This may be why we have so many red pukes in our blue states.
Vote across, clean out the red.

(15,262 posts)This is one way Republicans were trying to fix an election in Oregon and got caught. It does leave the down ticket races vulnerable if not votes.

(30,481 posts)They don't have time in their lives to study down-ticket races and feel it would be irresponsible of them to vote for a race they know very little about. I can understand their train of thought though I disagree with it.
I think we often forget how hard so many people out there are working to make ends meet.

(14,337 posts)Water and Sewage? Retain their positions? Who??? Local Republican A versus Republican B? Nope, I leave those blank. My Florida ballot was 4 pages long with this stuff.
I voted for President (Hillary), Senator (Murphy), House (Democrat), and on the Amendments. Medical MJ Yes.

In the past, when my daughter was working and finishing her degree, she would use mine and pass the info on to many of her friends. In California, we have so many measures and propositions on the ballot, it's hard to get the time to research them all, plus the local stuff and the judges. We pretty much agree politically, and she had a few young liberal friends that may not have voted otherwise.
