Related: About this forumPaul Krugman: The real reason Clinton is winning is not what the pundits tell you
"Its not exactly a secret that Paul Krugman has been a Hillary Clinton supporter in this election. On Friday, the columnist examines what her strong debate performances and now apparent large lead reveal about her, and dispels what he sees as the fiction that she is a terrible candidate.
If shes such a terrible candidate, Krugman wonders, how did she pummel Trump in all three televised debates, using strategies that looked even smarter in the days after, and now lengthened her lead so substantially? The usual suspects are already coalescing around an answer, Krugman writes, namely, that she just got lucky. If only the Republicans hadnt nominated Donald Trump, the story goes, shed be losing badly.

(10,252 posts)the majority of voters are not attracted to what the GOP has to offer. Consider the main talking points of just about every GOP candidate for every office. 1 Cut taxes, 2 Minimize gov't, 3 cut/eliminate welfare, 4 kill Obamacare,
5 outlaw abortions, 6 allow easy unlimited access to guns, 7 outlaw gay marriage, 8 divert public taxes to fund private charter schools, 9 no regulations on business, 10 punish illegal immigrants.
I may have left out a few, but that's all I hear Republicans talk about. They never support raising the minimum wage, an infrastructure jobs bill, increase funding for public education, equal pay for women. Republicans basically have nothing to offer to improve the lives of working people. And thanks to Donald Trump, more Americans have seen the cowardice and hypocracy of those elected officials supporting Trump. Republicans got nothing!

(16,926 posts)GREAT points - both lists, too!
Think about it: When is the last time you heard a PUG talk about any of these subjects:
*support raising the minimum wage
*an infrastructure jobs bill
*increase funding for public education
*equal pay for women
AND, which of those would provide something for the "blue collar" workers - you know, the "TRUMPSTERS!"
Thanks again!

(56,582 posts)Trump is being pretty solidly rejected by every economic quintile except the 2nd one (people making about $70K-$100K or so) -- that's his core of support; Clinton is winning over the other 4 quintiles pretty handily.

(297,220 posts)Hillary's a brilliant candidate.. it's just apparently not as obvious to some people who rely only on horserace pundits.
yeah, but the repubs did nominate drumpf as their best candidate and it doesn't matter who they WOULD have nominated I bet Hillary would have beat them, too.
Maybe by not as much as an admitted sexual predator but the Hillary hate machine would still have lost.
Mahalo, still one!
