Following the VP debate, even though Kaine did well, all republicans saw was that he was "not Trump." I think secretly a lot of them would have said at the time they wished he was at the top of the ticket given Trump's disastrous debate performances. I sort of thought he had done well for himself getting a lot of visibility from the campaign. And with the undisciplined shitshow that is Donald Trump I also thought Pence may come out of the election pretty unscathed. Donald will take the blame for the election night disaster for repubs.

But then the sex assault tape and the line of accusers... and Pence doubled down on his support. As a self proclaimed family values guy and evangelical Christian, I don't see any way he washes that shit off of himself now. The Donald and his proclivities will forever be hanging around Mike Pence's neck.

Several of them support Trump for god's sake! How they pretzalize themselves into that one is deserving of a peer-reviewed psychological study.

They really have no choice but to support Trump at this point. In their minds its rationalize that or give in to evil Hillary and her abortion judges. I think in 4 years after the upcoming shellacking, any connection to Trump will not be seen as a positive association when the GOP primaries roll around.
