Chicago's Hispanic residents make up 38.9% of the total population of that city. The nearby suburb of Cicero is 89.6% Hispanic, and Berwyn, it's neighbor is over 59% Hispanic. That often comes as a surprise to many people, who appear to believe that the Hispanic population is concentrated in just a few regions. Statewide, Hispanics make up 15.8% of the population.
That is one of the reasons Republicans are having more trouble than they expected. And Illinois is not the only state which has seen its Hispanic population grow. Hispanic voters make up a larger bloc than most people realize in many states. For example, Colorado's population is now over 20% Hispanic. All of that has an impact on elections. Even in Kansas, 10.5% of the population is Hispanic. New Jersey is 17.7% Hispanic, too.

(146,341 posts)Nevada is 26.5% Hispanic now. Even Utah is over 13% Hispanic. In election terms that is a sizable bloc. The times, as they say, are changing, indeed.

(34,661 posts)We are seeing numbers in the 50-58% Hispanic being used. North Las Vegas has a higher Hispanic population and it is north of 58%. Times are changing fast and like I said previously, the Angry Old White Folks are making their last gasp at backwards Politics in this Election Cycle. With our transitory population, the mover inner folks are coming from the New England and California regions. These newbies tend to be better educated and have more disposable money as well as a much more liberal ideal system.
Once one leaves Clark County, one enters a different world. One that seems to operate with back to the fifties ideas. Deserts and Rednecks rule.
