2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumJust had to share this ...
This rant was posted on a friend's FB page in response to a Trumplette who'd finally gotten on his last nerve.
Dear America,
You are on a plane. You have the choice of an experienced pilot who is familiar with not only how the plane is flown and landed, but the conditions of all the airports in the world and how best to land your plane safely at all of them.
Your OTHER choice is a screaming 12 year old boy who has bullied the other children on the plane, grabbed some of the stewardesses by the groin, made fun of a passenger in a wheelchair, and called anyone of colour a derogatory name. He has never BEEN in a plane before let alone FLY one, does not know or care to know what the airports around the world are like, or what he needs to know to land safely at any of them.
He has also made a point of telling everyone on your plane that he is the best at all of the things that are needed to make sure you arrive at your destinations safely
but has no experience, no education, no familiarity, and no DESIRE to learn ANYTHING about doing it successfully.
Those are your choices. Do the math.
This was written by Bob Segarini - long-time friend, singer/songwriter extraordinaire, and yet another US citizen who is tired of the crap. I thought this rant explained things simply and concisely - although it will still be beyond the intellectual comprehension of the Trumplette in question, and her ilk.

Great analogy.

(27,814 posts)... well-informed, well-read, articulate Democrats who understand how the gov't works, and are not persuaded by simplistic fact-free tirades from people who have nothing of substance to say.
You can choose which attribute above, and your lack thereof, most strongly suggests that you don't belong here.
Of course, "all of the above" is always an option - and, in your case, seems the most appropriate choice.
Now you can run along to "home base", and admit to your site-mates that you failed in your mission - miserably so.

(27,814 posts)What's the point? You know you're out of here the minute you post.
Oh, wait - I get it now. You're that annoying 4-year-old on the plane who kicks the seat in front of him the entire flight in a pathetic bid for attention.
Your five seconds of fame are up. Most people get 15 minutes - but in your case, the universe is willing to make an exception.
Report back to site of origin: Mission was a complete failure. Abort now.

(27,814 posts)Looks like my OPs have been targeted by posters on a site I have not been kind to of late.
It's a wonder they have time to sign-up and post here. Between posting on their own site about how HRC is walking around in a full-metal body-brace, coaching her body double, and murdering her political opponents, you'd think they'd be too busy to venture outside their bubble.

(27,814 posts)The fine folks at JPR have been on that crapola for months, and they're dead serious about it.
This week's CT-de-jour is all about how Assange has been either kidnapped or killed. They're sure the latest missives from Wikileaks are being written by someone else - and they're trying to "decode" them, searching for secret messages buried in the text for clues as to what's happened to poor Julian.

(18,634 posts)The flights have been too bumpy and the airline lost their luggage so they've decided they might as well try the 12 year old for a change.
There are whole states where a majority of voters think like this.
The mind boggles.
Or scrabbles.

(12,448 posts)Wonderful, and very apt, analogy. The thing that always gets to me about Trump is that not only is he ignorant, but doesn't have the least interest in learning. It's a form of magical thinking: SAYING he's the best at practically everything is supposed to make it so.
Gods, will I be glad when this election is over and we get to welcome Madam President.

I am flattered that Nance wanted to share what I wrote here, and flattered further by the responses from all of you.
I pride myself on my extraordinary patience, but the Delusional Opposition has gotten me to the point where I feel like I'm in a cheap seat on a bad flight with a screaming 2 year old behind me kicking my seat every 15 seconds.
I have done my best to avoid the frustration of talking to a brick wall, trying reason, common sense, and factual information in an effort to see if there is someone behind it, but to no avail.
I have a blog called "Don't Believe A Word I Say". It is the home of some fine, intelligent writers, where we 'dissect pop culture', and share our feelings about the world around us. There is political comment there occasionally, much of which is penned by our Mrs. Parker, Roxanne Tellier. On occasion, I speak up as well.
You can find my latest post by Googling DBAWIS
The blog is not monetized, we all work for free, and it is a labour of love. Have a look if you like.
And now, back to reasoning with the Delusional Opposition.
