2. It is Russian, but not recently learned.

My Russian language skills, such as they are, come courtesy of the USAF, which was kind enough to send me through a total immersion Russian language school for a year back in 1966-7. Those skill are little rusty, now, but come in handy from time to time.

4. No harder to learn than any other language, really.

Different alphabet and a more complex grammar, but if you know Latin or another highly inflected language, it's not so bad.

The eerie feeling comes from Trump's connection to Putin in a number of ways.

BTW, I have a pop-up keyboard in Cyrillic I use when I need to write in that language.
