Do You Want Real Time Election Results All Day Tuesday, November 8

Slate magazine and Votecastr, a silicon valley startup, will provide real time updates of the election results in battleground states, using methods that the campaign organizations use themselves. They don't care about the standard embargo of the results and believe that all voters should have as much information as possible. So, if you can stomach it, you can see their projections in real time, starting early in the morning when they will have analyzed early voting numbers. Get out the Tums!

they will all be dumping early results, which I will absolutely consume. I predict shear chaos and a very upset left coast.

For those too young to have been there (and I suspect that includes much of the staff of Slate and Votecastr) Carter conceded the election to Reagan based on polls in eastern states - well before the polls closed on the West Coast. I voted after I heard the announcement - for Anderson, who was running as a 3rd party candidate. It was believed at the time (and long afterwards) that the early announcement influenced the vote.

"News" organizations are so focused on the bottom line that they will be posting anything gets them eyeballs/clicks. I've already voted - as will have half my state by November 8 - so I plan to spend election day taking a bunch of 3rd graders on a nature walk, where the only distractions will be the squirrels.
