Huppke: ‘Hillary haters’ can’t be bothered with facts
Friends, our nationwide plague of scary clowns has subsided only to be replaced by something every bit as terrifying: mouth-frothing, reality-bending Haters of Hillary Clinton.
This subset of humanity specializes in finding deep-rooted, brooding evil in everything the Democratic presidential candidate has ever done. Genetically predisposed to ignore evidence or the outcomes of millions of dollars worth of investigations, they go through life convinced that the next piece of information uncovered — even if they don’t know what that information is — will be the long-sought-after smoking gun that ends Clinton’s decades of perceived criminality.
They walk among us — male and female, educated and uneducated — and are prone to spontaneous outbursts of “Lock her up!” and “Benghazi!” They speak a language in which the phrase “unindicted felon” actually makes sense and practice a religion that centers on the faith that crimes can be believed into existence.
FBI Director James Comey told Congress that some Clinton-related emails had been found on a laptop belonging to disgraced former Rep. Anthony Weiner, whose ex-wife is one of Clinton’s closest aides. The FBI’s investigation into Clinton’s email system was never formally closed, but seemed to end in July with justifiable criticism of the carelessness of the whole arrangement and the political skulduggery that followed, but no recommendation of criminal charges.
