I'm taking it *waaay* too literally, but "Drain the swamp" is a very dumb slogan

Swamps are actually very valuable ecosystems and places that have chosen to drain them in order to pave them over for development have suffered greatly and there's been a negative on native plat and animal species.

I totally get it's supposed to be a metaphor but I still think it's a dumb one. Of course someone like Donald Trump would write off swamps as just being gross and useless places that ought to be done away with.

Worse than that, it's just not very catchy. Mayberry Machiavelli Nov 2016 #1

They would have been better just sticking with the main, original campaign slogan.

When you're up to your ass in alligators, it's hard to remember the objective was to drain the swamp.

I think dot is up to his ass in alligators, and no way he can drain the swamp.

Many years ago it was thought to be a good thing.
Draining the swamp.
Land reclamation we called it.

We learned that the wetlands were the lungs of the biosphere.
Now we leave the swamps alone.
