Record breaking: Early voting turnout highest in Wake County, NC (Raleigh)

Wake County surpassed all of its prior early voting turnouts, with more than 302,000 residents casting their ballots in the 2016 general election, the Wake County Board of Elections announced Saturday. The previous early voting turnout record was 260,743 in the 2012 general election.

The massive turnout during the early voting period is outpacing the 2012 results by 13.4 percent, officials said.

On a university campus, many people in line were first-time voters.

“It’s exciting. I’ve been waiting to vote since I was like in middle school, so I want to take the opportunity,” said 19-year-old Olivia Zalecki.

That is great news considering Obama won NC in 2008 only to lose it in 2012 in a very close and heart-breaking loss. This will hopefully help get the state back over the top and landing in the HRC column.

this county. Maybe the voter suppression will go away and we can see real results from a population without voter suppression.

Especially in places such as Scotland, Cumberland, Robeson counties, and other parts of the sandhills with minority populations including the Lumbee Indians. Here in Mecklenburg, we did our job. Same for Wake, Guilford, Forsyth, Durham, Orange, and the Asheville part of Buncombe.

UPDATE 1:41 PM EST
I found an article saying that numbers were up in Meck. from a WBTV3 story, the link is to the final raw numbers for this county. As an aside, where I voted, Beatties Ford Library in NW Charlotte {heavily AA community} was the 3rd busiest in the system, and the one with the most votes outside of the very high income areas of the city/county.

I'm voting for HRC, and I pray sane Indies such as myself helps save the Republic from the Mad Orange Strongman. As long as HRC is competitive with the Indie vote...she should win because the Rethugs are outnumbered.

About 7,000 more than 2012, even though early voting days/hours were reduced by the flaming sacks of s**t in Raleigh.
