Donald J. Trump is not sleeping much these days.
Aboard his gold-plated jumbo jet, the Republican nominee does not like to rest or be alone with his thoughts, insisting that aides stay up and keep talking to him. He prefers the soothing, whispery voice of his son-in-law.
He requires constant assurance that his candidacy is on track. Look at that crowd! he exclaimed a few days ago as he flew across Florida, turning to his young press secretary as a TV tuned to Fox News showed images of what he claimed were thousands of people waiting for him on the ground below.
And he is struggling to suppress his bottomless need for attention. As he stood next to the breakfast buffet at his golf club in Doral, Fla., eyeing a tray of pork sausages, he sought to convey restraint when approached by a reporter for The New York Times.
...........................
The contrasts pervade his campaign. Aides to Mr. Trump have finally wrested away the Twitter account that he used to colorfully and often counterproductively savage his rivals. But offline, Mr. Trump still privately muses about all of the ways he will punish his enemies after Election Day, including a threat to fund a super PAC with vengeance as its core mission.............................

(5,049 posts)Getting elected is nothing compared with holding the office for four years. Just look at how badly Presidents age. If he thinks this is hard - how on earth is he going to deal with the grueling day to day demands he will face? The guy is totally unfit for the job.

(11,631 posts)I've read opinions on both sides that his "movement" will continue after he loses, but I don't think it will. The republican establishment will push the thesis that Hillary was unpopular and would have been beaten by any candidate who was not a maniac. If the repubs lose the senate that will be blamed on Trump as well. The deplorables will crawl back into their holes and Ryan, Cruz and co. will promise to block everything Hillary tries to do for four years until they can field a competent candidate. Trump will be relegated to the dustbin of history and even those who supported him will deny they ever did. He will be remembered as a clown at best and a dangerous demagogue who we narrowly escaped from at worst.

(7,963 posts)I think things are about to explode in the right with some major fireworks. The trump "movement" isn't going away. It Is going to complicate matters for the gop.
I read somewhere that the gop will be fracturing into 3 parties: old gop, tea baggers, and trumpers and there will be a HUGE battle coming. I've got my popcorn ready. ...

(9,670 posts)I foresee some serious health issues in his near future.
The man is not well. Not physically, not mentally.
I despise him with every fiber of my essence, but I don't wish him ill health.
I wish him to be bankrupted, incarcerated and inconsequential, though.
