I don't think he has a political bias. He's put together the model that he thinks is most predictive.

We'll all know if he's right by about Tuesday midnight.

There's the well-known quote from Michael Jordan when he was asked why he didn't get involved in politics. Jordan said: "Republicans buy sneakers too."
Nate Silver and the major media outlets want to attract conservatives as well as liberals to their sites/stations. Therefore they have to give those folks some reasons to click in/tune in.
Its the business model.
