2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumEveryone here wants the party to have a strong and STRENGTHENED anti-bigotry position.
Raising questions about bad electoral strategy is NOT the same thing as wanting people to shut up hate.
Keep fighting hate...fight it MORE...
But fight the things that help the haters spread hate, too.

In Michigan, trump won by .3%
1.1% voted for Jill Stein.
Other borderline states have similar stats.
Hillary won the popular vote by at least two million, and they are still counting, but it was the third party candidates, that did affect the result of the election.
Every person who voted for the third party candidate voted for bigotry and hate, because they knew the election results would only choose either Hillary or trump
What was at stake was never more clear. If nothing else, they knew the SC was at stake.
I will never forget or forgive those who voted third party, or the 47% who didn't even bother to vote.

What has been done to the Supreme Court will take DECADES to undo.
Seriously,
FUCK Jill STEIN and her voters
FUCK THE SO CALLED "BERNIE OR BUSTERS"
FUCK GARY JOHNSON and his voters
FUCK TRUMP and his deplorables!
FUCK COMEY AND THE RWers IN THE FBI
FUCK REPUBLICANS
FUCK TRUMP!!!
and FUCK everyone who helped bring this about!!!
People were depending on a left leaning supreme court, and now all that is all rubble.[/font]

However, I am not going to argue the point

(50,254 posts)at the local Dem headquarters pleading with people on Facebook to vote Hillary on anti-fascist grounds. A LOT of Sanders supporters spent a lot of time doing similar things.
What matters now is turning non-voters and third-party voters into Dem presidential voters in 2016. This election proved that we can never ever win voters over by just demanding their votes.

(89,248 posts)i think the only change would have been to put more GOTV into the blue midwest states to increase turnout in blue areas. the dems there probably felt they were safe also .
