They are white washing the right wing extremists who have risen their ugly heads.
Trump followers are not even in the "right" camp.
They are fascist, racist, homophobic, misogynistic, and a host of other accurate descriptions; they are not "Alt" anything.
Demand accuracy in reporting. Do not make up a new term for what we need to describe accurately.

Anyone living today should no longer wonder why many people of Germany went with Hitler. Go ahead and accuse me of breaking Godwins Law, I don't give a crap. it's the fucking truth, we are on the same path.

(12,412 posts)In doing so they are misleading us.
They are legitimizing the whole rancid "movement." It's like calling the Ku Klux Klan simply, "the klan," as if it were some roving band of Scotsmen looking for the haggis.

(6,598 posts)want them to be so acceptable? Andrea, Chuck, and most of CNN treated them as if they were all so very reasonable, couldn't see anything wrong with their views - that's not coincidence after coincidence after coincidence, and on and on.

We can call them "the so-called alt-right," and "what has always been known as White Nationalists, including the Aryan Nation and the KKK, now calling themselves the alt-right," but in a sound-bite and Twitter world, those are all long phrases and may be difficult to get across.
I still think it is greatly worthwhile to use those descriptive terms and to insist on it in the media.
Kind of like my insistence on interrupting the flagellation of Hillary and the DNC by pointing out that she WON by a million votes and counting, so what we need to do is get rid of the Electoral College.
