HRC extends popular vote margin

Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton has expanded her lead in the popular vote to exceed 1 million, and her advantage is likely to grow as the final ballots are counted.


The Cook Political Report, a nonpartisan research organization, says Clinton now has 61.9 million votes compared with 60.9 million for President-elect Donald Trump. But Trump won a solid victory last week in the state-by-state electoral vote, which is determinative.


Popular votes are still being counted in heavily Democratic California and Washington state, according to The Associated Press.


Trump's legitimacy has been called into question by his adversaries because he didn't win the popular vote, adding to the desire among his critics to defy him from the start of his administration.

3. clinging to this data for solace would be a mistake

HRC won the popular vote, no question, and as absentee ballots from deep blue states are tallied, that victory grows more pronounced, almost 1% now, isn't it?

the problem here is that Democrats, hell the entire world, needed her to win that popular vote by 10%+. instead, we have a near-even split aided strongly by massive turnout in heavily Democratic urban areas. nasty as Republican gerrymandering is, we've made it incredibly easy for them as our votes are concentrated in a handful of counties in every state.

i don't see how we turn this disaster around for 2020, let alone 2018.
