2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumMy understanding is, there was a 14 percent shift in Wis. voters in the last week of the election
I put that result squarely on Comey's email.
And THAT really pisses me off.

(70,205 posts)A lot of doubt--folks just wondering. Most had thought the emails were dead-then all of sudden--the FBI is involved--not just Republicans in Congress. Many just shook their heads and said something like--I just don't know anymore.

(27,808 posts)There was a lot of interference in this election - and since the actual number of votes that could have been shifted to give Hillary the EC is under 100,000, I'm going to remain angry, depressed, and upset about this for a long time.

(8,703 posts)Facebook Fake News - new emails confirm that Hillary started ISIS.
So the Republicans used this as a springboard to put out fake news about what was in the emails.

(9,124 posts)Oddly... in passed years most county voted came rather quickly. This year small counties had more precincts open later the normal. There was a better turn out in the rural areas... I'm not up to date on how on how tabulation is done in the counties anymore. It could be possible given the late reporting. But that is pure, ....pure speculation. You could eek out a point or two. That's still shifting at minimum 30,000. Votes.
Wisconsin and PA are very suspicious for their wide margin of error in the exit polls, way beyond a reasonable amount. Will be interesting once official results are published and numbers crunched.
Something Stinks When Exit Polls and Official Counts Don't Match
geek tragedy
(68,868 posts)But Pennsylvania wasn't all that close--68,000 votes.
What happened is that we bottomed out in Congressional districts that vote Republican for house races, getting blown out 70-30 instead of 55-45 etc.
But this was the culmination of the long-term erosion in our vote in much of the country. We really need to get back in and scrap for every county, every state legislature seat in the country. Can't just sit back and hope to run up the score in the cities across the Midwest.

(68,868 posts)Wisconsin and Michigan have 27 combined.
Trump needed to win only 1/3 of those states.
We need to win all three in 2020.
