Jesus fuck! 1.3M votes - and still counting!

I'm starting to cry again. This election was ours. There has to be a revolution in the form of a constitutional amendment that makes voting (in a national election) compulsory. The voter turnout for this election is hovering around 58% - and they're considering that "high". If even a small number of the remaining 42% had cast an informed vote instead of being lazy or cynical, then we wouldn't be talking about this.

Not in a free country.
I know it happens in some places but the very idea is ludicrous.

I DO believe in education. Our educational system has to teach that voting is part of a citizen's duty. And let's DO make Civics (or whatever they call it) compulsory, from Grade 1 through high school so kids can understand what their vote means.

I was talking to a 16 year old girl yesterday, who participated in one of the local marches in my city. She said she wished she and all her schoolmates could have voted. She gave me hope.

Increase the size of Congress to insure that every person has equal representation (the Wyoming Rule). That would make the EC a lot more fair. The limit of 435 is not in the Constitution.
Unfortunately the only way either of these things would ever happen is if the Trump Administration screws up the country horrifically or is so engulfed in scandals that people actually start thinking about how we got here in the first place, against a majority of the voters' will.

What do you think is happening in Trump tower as we speak? Our country is just about to become one big scandle.

People are all wearing the rose-colored glasses about Bush now, but the two SCOTUS decisions - overturning the Voting Rights Act and Citizens United - created an unheralded combination of suppression and dark money.

This needs to STOP.
