Boehner just spat in Obama's face with that one minute press conference

See what happens when you try to reach out the the GOP? They spit in your face.

Off the cliff we should go.

If the GOP spits in your face, you punch them right in the mouth.

now it looks like we'll go off the cliff and get the tax cuts we all wanted-for those making under $250K despite Obama's "concessions."

I don't see why the White House would have leaked its offer if they expected Republicans to take them up on it. This way, if we go over, it looks like the president really tried to make a deal, but the GOP were just too intransigent. At least I hope.

That said, going over the cliff does nothing to lessen the possibility of chained CPI or any other entitlement/spending cuts down the line. Only a deal that takes the debt ceiling away from the GOP and funds the govt. beyond March will do that.

Move all the way to right and box them in!

That is how we got insurance mandates, billionaires tax cuts, and a Repuke landslide in 2010. All we need is MORE capitulation, and it will work!

Seriously, some of you people are dumber than Fox Nation

Boehner cannot convince his group to negotiate in a good faith effort. They have basically told Boehner to offer this and see if the White House will move more towards them. Personally I think they do not understand how the people feel about the taxing of the 2% of the population. They are out of touch with sentiments of the vast majority of Americans. I guess we will just have to offer legislation in the new year to provide tax cuts on the first $250,000 and go from there.

Obama should just say,

"You know what? I've tried and there is NO movement on the other side. I'm rescinding my offer."

wants to give tax cuts for those making $900 million a year on the backs of the middle class. Obama showed how reasonable he is and now everyone sees how unreasonable Boehner and his fellow Rs in Congress are. Then we can go off the cliff and get the tax cuts for 98% of us.

Currently, the American people, when asked who they will blame for going over the cliff, blame the GOP. Obama can string them along and remain reasonable all the way along.

If Boehner can't control his wing nuts, we go over the cliff. The American people will blame the GOP.

Boehner loses 10 Republicans representatives with the new congress, and he probably loses his speakership to Cantor as well.

Get a clue! Obama KNEW that Boehner is too weak of a leader to line his side up behind even a compromise that had loads of concessions. When Obama "sold us out" he knew that the GOP didn't intend to negotiate in good faith. So now the mess belongs solely to the stubborn and childish GOP.

All this talk of Obama caving is pathetic because it clearly demonstrates that a lot of Dems are just as brain dead as the average GOP knuckle dragger.

If they don't act now they will have to act when everyone in their home district is screaming at them about their increased taxes come January. Think they will hold the debt ceiling hostage again? If they do they will just lose more house and senate members in the next election.

Boehner is an empty suit with an orange ring around the collar.

Newt lost and the public blamed it on Congress. So Bill won. I think President Obama is taking lessons from Bill. Bill is a master politician.

He doesn't have a do or die mentality.
He will never let things go off the rails and the GOP knows it.
They can demand just about anything and if they hold to it, at the last minute, Obama will give it to them.

I wish he had a little more Teddy Roosevelt in him.
