Something has gnawed at me since the election day.

My observations in a nutshell:
Democratic Underground was taken down by some mysterious hackers on the afternoon of Nov 8 (election day). I was posting things as I read about both "exit poll results" and early election returns. I was also watching Predictwise, especially state by state probabilities change as the day went on. Just about the time DU went down Hillary had reached a peak of 97% chance of winning Florida. North Carolina, and notably Ohio were steadily increasing. All of a sudden (unbelievably sudden) the probabilities for her win in Florida dropped precipitously. It was bizarre. Other swing states followed suit (North Carolina and Ohio notably). Now all of this other shit has come out about the Russian interference; in addition to strenuous efforts by Wisconsin and Pennsylvania (including Trump camp) to prevent forensic examination of the voting machines where they were used. Michigan just flat out obstructed any recount. Additionally cyber experts and other scientists concluded the nearly mathematical impossibility of the variation of the actual vote vs the raw exit polls (24 out of 28 went toward benefiting Trump--less than 1 out 13000 chance of this happening randomly) from CNN.

That's why I am convinced someone mucked with the ev counts in many swing states and probably tried to in others. However, they may have covered their tracks very well.

I can feel this in my bones so to speak. Trump (POS for Pile of Shit) is exhibiting some of the most vile behavior I have ever seen in a contemporaneous human being (and that includes the likes of Saddam Hussein and Osama bin Laden). He should be put into prison for a very long time. The prospect of him in the white house turns my stomach.

would have a strong reason to obstruct any attempt at a recount, or investigation into the voting machines used in the election.
This is my belief. The Russians needed allies involved in the elections in each of the target states.

and the problem is, if there is no pushback on this, we'll never have another real election again.

Actually that ship has probably already sailed.

We'll get that creature back as "president for life" with 99% of the vote (an election for show).

I wish I believed that Dems would stand up for our interests in congress, but they'll fall to their knees and do as they are told after a short pretense of resistance as usual.

I feel like I'm watching my kids' future circling the drain and my kids are white males, so they'll be better off than many.

Something wrong happened that night. And I don't mean my pick lost. That happens all the time in many different ways.

My first thought. The Russians! And yes, their American counter parts, the Republicans, with all that voter suppression, ID laws, bad machines, purging polls, and everything they could think of, also helped.

But without Russia, it wasn't gonna be enough.

Even has I try to move on, something keeps telling me this is all wrong. Like a parallel universe episode in any Star Trek series.

... how could the polls have been so wrong, without ever asking HOW the polls got to be so wrong at the LAST MINUTE in THIS election, when they'd been so right in all previous elections.

Shouldn't the question have been: Why are the election results SO COMPLETELY different from a year's worth of poll results? Are we meant to assume that polling organizations somehow "missed" all of those Trump voters who allegedly showed up at the last minute?

was why were so many states to close to call. I just thought the media didnt want to call them to drag it out.
Then when it was "sooooo close" in Virginia i remember thinking, something is wrong here.
It was.
It still is.

just happened to have Republican SOS. Virginia, Colorado, Nevada had Dem SOS.

our local progressive talk station changed suddenly to Xmas music - for good, we dont have prog talk anymore - never mind that Madison WI was one of the highest revenue progressive station in US.

It was 2004 when I first came across du as I was trying to make sense out of that election - this is where I learned all about election integrity issues - all the ways votes could be suppressed or outright stolen. Not only did I learn about what went on in Ohio 2004 in great detail, bu election anomalies of all sorts throughout the yrs.. Not only articles but many first hand reports from polling places... observations from people like OP re: all the ways this just dOESNT MAKE ANY SENSE. I seem to remember people working together on collecting data & screen shots of stuff (its been awhile so I dont recall for what purpose).

No, I dont think its an accident that du was taken down when it was. If someone was wanting to cut off communications between election integrity "geeks" like us - wouldnt this be one of the first places youd target?
