New CNN 2016 Poll: Hillary Clinton overwhelming favorite among Dems; Paul Ryan tops GOP field

December 30th, 2012, 09:00 AM ET

Washington (CNN) - Hillary Clinton hasn't even stepped down yet as secretary of state and there's already constant speculation as to whether she'll run again for the White House. While no decision from her on any future bid for president is expected in 2013, expect speculation about her future political plans to intensify throughout the New Year.

But if she eventually changes her mind and decides to run for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2016, a new national survey indicates that the vast majority of Democrats would consider backing her as their party's nominee.

According to a CNN/ORC International poll released Sunday morning, 85% of Democrats and independents who lean towards the Democratic Party say they'd be very or somewhat likely to support Clinton if she runs for the Democratic nomination. There's a slight gender divide, with 93% of Democratic women saying they'd be very or somewhat likely to support Clinton. That figure drops to 79% among Democratic men.

(snip)

Romney's running mate tops the current GOP list of 2016 hopefuls. Three-quarters of Republicans or independents who lean Republican say that they'd be very or somewhat likely to support Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan if he runs. At a recent conservative awards dinner Ryan, the House Budget Committee chairman, joked about running for the White House, saying "know any good diners in New Hampshire or Iowa? I'm sure the press won't read too much into that one."

Fifty-nine percent of Republicans say they'd back Chris Christie.

Just like they learned from Vietnam.

Unfortunately for them (and often for us), what they learn is generally the wrong lesson.

In Vietnam they learned to keep the press away from actual combat missions with all the blood & gore, safely "embedding" them at Headquarters.

In 2012 they learned that Romney was too much of a weak-kneed liberal to win the election.

There is no global warming.
The way to solve the energy crisis is with tar-sand crude.
The way to fix the economy is to starve the poor.
The (flat) Earth was created in 4004 B.C.

Hillary Clinton: So you are talking about the outsourcing of US jobs to India. We know it's been going on for many years now and it's part of our economic relationship with India and I think there are advantages with it that have certainly benefitted many parts of our country and there are disadvantages that go to the need to improve the job fields of our own people and create a better economic environment so it's like anything like the pluses and minuses.

I'm still waiting for Hillary to tell us what engineers and IT people are supposed to train for after their jobs get outsourced to India.

Ryan will get nowhere. The frontrunners for 2016 are Jeb Bush,Christie, and Santurum.

On Democratic side Hillary Is clear fronrunner If she runs. While I never believed her not running again talk her possable health problems
with fainting may be sign she won't run.And If both Hillary and Biden ultemtly don't run the Democratic nomination Is wide open.

People need to give it a rest and focus on the fact that we just got a president re-elected. He has a hard road ahead to get stuff done before the mid-terms, and then helping the party to (hopefully) get the House back. I haven't seen anyone who seems to give a care about that one.

The losing VP candidate of the most recent election? The one who couldn't carry his home state or even his home town, for that matter? That's their great hope?

No wonder the Republican party will cease to exist before too long.

When we go off the fiscal cliff which will happen on tuesday the spin will eather 1:Obama wouldn't compromise or 2:Obama and Republicans want their way or highway.

Yet Obama agreed to riase those who get to keep tax cuts from 250,000 to 400,000 and was willing to give In to rasing the medicare age to 67 and cuts to Social security COLA.Things that pisses off democrats and liberals. And even them the teaparty wouldn't go along with rasing taxes on rich.

Obama has got his ass saved by his enemies hatred of him. But,let's be honest here.Any cuts Obama would agree to comproise with would be nothing to what RomneyRyan would have done.

If Hillary decides not to run, then I want Joe Biden. I don't care that he would be 74 years old. He has been a powerhouse for our party for years. His campaigning style is great and he knows how to govern - (i.e. working on the fiscal cliff deal with McConnell).
