permanently extend the Bush income tax cuts at $400,000 and below

So, "Permanent tax cuts for the wealthy, temporary tax cuts for everyone else" is wrong.

These days, when you make your bizarro-world posts, do you still sign them '3rd way Manny', or do we have to guess?

Under the deal brokered by Vice President Joe Biden and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), Congress would permanently extend the Bush income tax cuts at $400,000 and below, keep the estate tax threshold at $5 million and extend unemployment benefits for one year.

I hope that's of some comfort, Manny?

Not that it matters, wrong is rewarded on DU as long as you're "holding Obama's feet to the fire"

Are you just sad because Bernie Sanders supported the deal and he is more a real left winger, Democrat and democrat than you are?

So, they are still in power in the House and have enough to filibuster the Senate. Kindly drop the purist nonsense and place your mind in the real world for a change. Read an 8th grade history book and realize that the very nation was founded on compromise and that compromise MUST and WILL occur in order to actually do something I doubt you've ever done: GOVERN. There is a TeaLeftPurist world, and there is a REAL world. Obama and Dems got the best deal they could under the circumstances. Not happy? Then run for Congress and govern YOURSELF instead of all this whining from the backseat.

PS: Think on it. Obama and Dems FORCED the R's to agree to TAX HIKES, got a number of other concessions, and will FORCE the House to either accept the bill or face the absolute DESTRUCTION of the RePUKE party once and for all. The House WILL pass it, and Obama's approval rating will head toward 60%. Chew on them apples.

This wasn't close.

When Clinton passed these taxes in 1993, he could not get 1 GOP vote in the senate. It was passed with democrats only.

Let me repeat that.

The Clinton taxes were passed without one GOP vote in the senate back in 1993. The taxes were so unpopular it led to an uprising and big GOP gains in 1994.

Now in an atmosphere even more partisan, Obama has put the Clinton taxes back in place for the rich with bipartisan support. This is a watershed moment. And all people can do is complain that the number is 400/450K instead of 250K? Give me a break!

I'm shocked at how clueless some critics are. This is a great deal. Obama won big.

Think about it. A bill to raise taxes and investment income just passed the Senate 89-8! That is unbelievable.

They allowed the tax cuts for the wealthy to expire. That's different from raising taxes on the wealthy. The tax cuts were originally sold as temporary.

President Obama did make republicans let go of that bush tax break they tried for years to hang onto. That is historic, our President has done a bunch of historic things.

Selfish twits those greedy republicans, they cost our Gov. about a trillion dollars in revenue and that wasn't enough for them.
