http://www.publicpolicypolling.com/main/2012/04/obama-doing-better-in-nevada.htmlGood news out of Nevada, as Obama leads Romney by eight there. This is good news, obviously, but even better news when you consider Nevada borders Utah and has a high LDS population - so, even with that advantage, he still can't come close to Obama.

(31,234 posts)I read a comment posted here either by Karl Rove, or someone in his inner circle, who expressed exactly what you did. They pretty much said the WH doesn't matter, if they control both Houses, and the USSC.
We need President Obama to be reelected, if for no other reason than to wield the mighty VETO pen when they overreach, as they are prone to do. It's absolutely terrifying to me to think of the Ryan Budget actually making it to any president's desk.

Mitt Romney, on the other hand, polled much better with voters in Nevada than he did in most of the rest of the country. His favorability on our last poll there was narrowly positive at 45/44, and he managed to tie Obama at 46% in a state where the President won by 12 points in 2008. PPP's other polls in the state in 2011 showed a similarly close Obama/Romney race- a 1 point lead for Obama in July, a 3 point lead for Romney in April, and a 1 point lead for Obama in January.
That's not the case anymore. Over the last 5 months Obama's approval numbers have recovered, Romney's favorability numbers have taken a strong turn in the wrong direction, and Obama's opened up an 8 point lead in the state at 51-43.
I wonder what the numbers in Utah look like.
So much for the "best guy to run against Obama" argument.
Obama is going to be able to by pass the blue states, bypass the light blue states, and spend a lot of money in the purple and light red states.
Best news I have seen in a long time.

(5,066 posts)Hispanics.
This Is key reason Romney Is down In Nevada.
Polling has suggested Obama could get 70 to 72 percent of the Hispanic vote.Romney could get In the teens. Some hispanics who
voted for Mccain In 2008 are leaning Obama.
Hispanics are laregly Catholic,ProLife, and preDefense. Many serve In Military. The people who die In Neocon wars are Hispanics,Blacks,
and Poor White.Democrats do well with Hispanics on Econonmy,Education, and Health Care.Obama appointed the first Hispanic to
Supereme court which most Republicans voted against.
Romney has been very vocal In being against the Dream Act.So according to Romney even If hispanics come here Illegally and sign up
for Military they and their children still shouldn't be able to get pathway to citizenship but Ok for them to die for neocon wars.

(1,819 posts)i think it's finally sinking in that the GOP is the party of bigotry and they don't like browned skinned people.
It's great news for the democratic party because racism is one of those issues that last with non white voters for a lifetime regardless of all other issues.

Nevada is the most urbanized state in the USA. Your conception of Nevada is thinking that the cow counties dominate, but in fact, the election is decided in Las Vegas where most Nevadans live.

(599 posts)Ones with Obama's picture with the "does this ass make my car look big", "Sorry Yet" stickers with the flag O from Obama's campaign, probably a few other that I can't even come up with at the moment...Heck, the kids' bus passes a house with Obama painted (yes...painted on a block of wood) as a big-eared donkey wearing a crown with some gibberish about having to dethrone him.
YET, I've not seen any of the current front-runners in the cast of clownies running for the GOP. Not a single Santorum, not a Romney, not a Newty...most I've seen is a sticker or two for Ron Paul. And, believe it or not, I saw one Herman Cain sticker earlier this year. Had to do a comedy double-take to make sure I saw what I thought I saw.
The GOP sticker that I see most around here?? The McCain/Palin one!
Even funnier is when you see that same bumper sticker...with the top half torn off so it just says Palin. How's that workin' fer ya?!

(46,192 posts)if you're in the cow counties, how they vote doesn't make all that much difference compared to Vegas and Reno areas.
