After enduring 2001-2009, I'm going to gloat and gloat and gloat at all the sad conservatives out there.

I hear a few others share Mitt's feelings:

My sister told me that her repub MIL who wouldn't vote this year after she saw the first debate and stated how "I just don't like that man".. actually watched the swearing in ceremony today.

My sister, McCain supporter in '08, surprised me when she asked me if I could get her an Obama 2012 sticker for her car. She said she thought Obama was doing a good job and she just didn't like Romney. Admitted she was all wrong in 2008.
Maybe MIL is starting to see the truth!

(86,780 posts)the 2A actually says, but that doesn't matter... the voices in those tea bags told her that she should be against common sense because that would be socialism.
And Socialism would be much better than what people like her would have us endure.

(4,309 posts)Big time. My daughter is one smart girl with a good job and she has no problem with socialism at all. All of her friends feel the same way. She voted for Obama but thinks he is way too much right-wing!
2naSalit
(86,780 posts)in many places, not so much where I am. I think your daughter is on to something though and tend to agree with her. We do need a more socialist paradigm in this country and I would go so far as to suggest that we might need to nationalize a bunch of corporate megacorps in the near future. I think that if the Rs want to crash the economy again or shut the gov't down or something as ignorant as that, it may be the only answer to our problem. I think we should nationalize the banks for beginners, but that's just my opinion. Though I must confess that I do have a master's degree in polisci. I tell my friends that the more you know and understand the politic system, the scarier this all appears to be.
