2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumI'm very concern about the rethugs attempt to gerrymander the electoral collage
These COWARDS!! will try at nothing to steal and rig elections.PA has introduce a bill that would change the winner take all.And I'm guessing more states that have rethug Governors and Legislators will follow just like they tried to keep democrats from voting

(213 posts)We are really going to need to have a huge fight over this. We will need to march and be in the streets in order for our votes to be meaningful!

(36,827 posts)PA is traditionally a swing state so changing the winner take all dynamic can work against them just as easily. It also means PA will simply become politically irrelevant in the presidential race. For that reason alone I doubt their legislature will go for it. I'd love it if Texas did this.

(14,564 posts)these jackwagons were going to do this crape this time last year, but put their fingers to the wind and went with the worst voter ID law in the country instead.
Pa is NOT a "swing" state in presidential elections.
Has gone D since Clinton's first election.
Meanwhile, though democratic candidates for the congress got more total votes than the republican candidates, the Rs won 12 of 18 House districts.
Instead of the total 18 EVs going to the President this year, it would have been 5, with 13 going to Romney.
That is the difference in an close election.
I would appreciate ANY help from outside in giving this as much attention as possible.

(20,450 posts)votes! Redistricting on behalf of the Rethugs is killing us at the state and local levels, too.
We can't be complacent. There is still much more work to be done.

(14,554 posts)The only thing the last election did, as far as I can tell, to the Repug way of thinking is that they realized too many people voted Democratic to allow their shady voter suppression and other tactics to work (as I still believe they did in 2000 and 2004). They know they have to up the game now. Gerrymandering has worked for them in the past, just at a lower level. I think this is going to be their plan as they see now that with a straight up vote, they have no chance of winning.
