The facts vs. Mitt Romney
By Dana Milbank

Good morning, he began, though it was already afternoon. The accuracy of his statements went downhill from there.
He blamed President Obama for the weakest economic recovery since the Great Depression.
He said he would save about $100 billion a year eliminating Obamacare.
He accused the president of taking a series of steps that end Medicare as we know it. And he claimed Obama had created an unaccountable panel, with the power to prevent Medicare from providing certain treatments.
Incorrect, wrong, false and fictitious. And that was just a sample from one Romney speech on one day.
Fortunately, fact-checkers in the press, such as The Washington Posts Glenn Kessler and the Tampa Bay Times PolitiFact, have been diligently pointing out Romneys whoppers. Unfortunately, this has had little, if any, effect on his prodigious output.

(20,450 posts)times by the wingnuts and allowed to stand unchallenged in the M$M that I hear even Democrats repeating them:
1. That Obama cut $500 million from Medicare. That is a lie. What Obamacare does is streamline the administrative process, addressing fraud and waste.
2. That Obamacare will lead to job losses. That is a lie. In fact, it is the opposite. Jobs in several health related fields will increase, and indeed, there are tax credits for small businesses that hire these professionals.
Again, these two lies have been repeated so much that I'm hearing liberals/Democrats repeat them, too!
It's driving me up the fucking wall!!!!!

As Newt Gingrich said in an informal interview, obviously bemused, Romney lies when he has no need to at all.
There was a point in a debate when Romney reeled off four lies in a row, and they asked Newt for a response. For a moment, Gingrich was speechless, and Newt is no babe in the woods.
From Iowa to Florida, Romney said, that the Obama administration had not negotiated new free trade deals. He kept on saying it, after being called out by interviewers, by commentators, and the press. In fact the Administration had inked free trade agreements with Panama, Columbia, and Korea. The Korean agreement was the biggest since NAFTA. All passed Congress (of course).
Whatever you think about trade deals, I found it amazing the Romney kept on repeating such an obvious lie in stump speeches and debates, right until the Florida.
GOP stakeholders would do well to remember, Mitt Romney signs his name in dust.
