Those lights must be hot because he wiped his forehead a few times too. He must have sweat glands like Richard Nixon.

Obama should excuse himself to go take a leak. Leave all of Congress sitting there waiting for him to come back.

On CBS This Morning, Ryan, who was a guest on the program, told Rubio to drink water so Rubio's throat wouldn't get dry.

It was a mess. He was sweating and jittery throughout the entire speech. I get these people are human, and I don't want to make a big deal about it, but let's be honest, he's supposed to be one of their rising stars and he looked utterly out of his league. This isn't someone who was just pushed in front of a camera and told to speak - he had to have rehearsed and certainly he's done this before, right?

Politics is also an art in the way the candidates present themselves. If Dukakis was sunk by riding in a tank and H.W. Bush because of his being mesmerized by a goddamn checkout scanner, Rubio is going to have a helliuva time living this down.

Seems to be a pattern with the GOP response to SOTU--see, e.g., Bobby Jindal.

he did it.. with a sneaky little pants on fire/deer in headlights move.

And, something that doesn't get mentioned much but he was using a Telepromter! How many damn stupid jokes have the reCons spewed about the President using them?

Rubio Slams Obama's Teleprompter While In Front Of Telemprompters At CPAC

The Tea Party's choice in the Florida Republican primary, Marco Rubio, began his address to a crowd of conservative conventioneers by taking a shot at President Obama for reading from a teleprompter. He did it while standing in front of two easily visible teleprompters.

It was unclear whether the devices were placed there for him or for other speakers at the Conservative Political Action Committee conference, or CPAC, at which he was a keynote speaker. A HuffPost reporter, however, watched his speech from the front row and Rubio could clearly be seen looking intently and repeatedly at the teleprompters. He also had a stack of papers with him at the lectern and flipped through them as the speech progressed, perhaps unwilling to take any chance he would flub the swipe at Obama.
