Iraq disaster. Most people finally getting it....How could they not have seen the lies 10 years ago?

Hopefully, Healthcare Insurance Companies will be next....The millions of people who’s lives have been destroyed by these companies have been catastrophic...Yet not hardly a peep out of the general populace...

I ask everybody...Why the fuck are people not in the street?
Now I know the answer will be how the media is controlled by the Corporate Lobbyists and all that other stuff. But so many people watched love ones die needlessly and others have been destroyed financially by this system, loosing everything, lives permanently destroyed yet no one has ever started a grass roots movement to rid ourselves of this plague.

Are we just that stupid? Or did the 1% do such a good job on us, that we are too weak to fight?...

I could never understand how the American people could be led so easily into a war we didn't need to fight. My best guess is the American people were mad over the 9-11 attack and wanted get back at somebody and were ready to believe anything the President and his staff said. Remember how Cheney said the 9-11 attackers had ties to Saddam Hussein. I wrote a letter to the Dallas Morning News before the war saying what a bad idea it was and a man sent in a letter to answer me and he said we needed to kick some ass. Also around that same time, on Dallas TV, a reporter asked a woman in Plano how she would feel if we killed innocent women and children when we attacked. She brushed it off, saying well look at the kind of life they lead. I was aghast at that. It makes me sick to hear all the polls that now people say it was bad idea, why didn't they said it was a bad idea before it stared. When Hillary ran for president, I was thrilled, but in the end, I did not vote for her because she had voted to go to war. I voted for Obama because he voted against it. What a blot this war will be on the history of the US. I am sure Bush will be considered our worst president.

He was NOT a nice person, had an previously earned reputation for violence and tried to play up his saber-rattling side for domestic reasons, which allowed him to be the perfect villain for the Administration's propaganda.

was a huge WTF moment for me. I held out some hope that Powell, if anybody, would talk his boss out of this madness/folly of invading Iraq but then he fell in line too and not only came out in favor of it but helped get it off the ground with his little "performance" at the UN. I didn't think it was a bad idea to work to get inspectors back in Iraq but, for all of the talk about standing up for UN resolutions that SH had violated, they were extremely rude and dismissive of the UN in general and treated the UN weapons inspectors like they were a bunch of bumbling and incompetent boobs whom couldn't find the WMDs that Bush, Cheney, et al insisted were there all the time (if they knew where they were, why didn't they share that intel with the inspectors and why did nobody call them on this?). Their decision to throw out the inspectors before they finished their work and refusal to go back to the UN and get a second resolution approving military action should have been a HUGE tip-off to everybody that they wanted to get their war on regardless of what was found/not found and that they had decided on launching the war no matter what. The only "silver lining" that came out of the whole mess is that we know longer have the money, resources, or will to get involved in a similar folly, at least not anytime in the near future. Had it been viewed as a "success" or at least not such a huge disaster, we'd almost certainly have gone right into bombing and possibly invading Iran next. I know that the usual suspects are still jonesing for it but very few people are and most people recognize that we don't have the resources to do anything about Iran, esp. since we are still in Afghanistan for at least the next year or so.

Don't you remember how every fucking morning NPR would air a press briefing about the progress of the war? Neither the NPR coverage nor the people attending the briefing did anything but stenography.

They listened to what was presented and believed it without ever questioning whether true or not. Fear was part of it too - never underestimate the power of fear.

We didn't think he would lie to start a war, to send thousands of troops to die and be maimed, to spend trillions of dollars and put it on a credit card. To think of the sheer evil it took to do that is just mind boggling. And for what? To take over their oil industry? Any oil there or anywhere else is sold on the global market at the global price. It did nothing to bring down the price of gas here. Was it to bomb the country to smithereens so they could award no bid contracts to rebuild to Halliburton and KBR? Was it all just about MONEY? That makes my head explode!
