Fox News radio host: LGBT rights make Christians ‘second-class citizens’

http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2013/03/26/fox-news-radio-host-lgbt-rights-make-christians-second-class-citizens/

Fox News radio host Todd Starnes says that the push for equal rights for LGBT people is making Christians who believe in the “Biblical definition of marriage” into “second-class citizens.”

During a Monday interview with conservative radio host Sandy Rios, the often-outraged Starnes reacted to the possibility that the U.S. Supreme Court could rule in favor of marriage equality.

“What concerns me, though, Sandy, is the vitriol coming from those who support gay marriage,” Starnes declared. “You know, I’m the kind of person that is more than happy to sit down and talk and debate and listen to what people have to say. I may not agree with it, but at least, you know, it’s their right to have their opinion under our Constitution.”

“And yet, there seems to be this opinion on the other side that says, you know what, you and I don’t deserve the same rights,” he opined. “You know, it’s as if we’re second-class citizens now because we support the traditional, Biblical definition of marriage or perhaps we are pro-life, and that means we’re somehow second-class citizens who don’t deserve to be in the public marketplace of ideas.”

[font color="navy" face="Verdana"]Absolutely none. I'm so sick of these people who consider their opinion alone, without any verifiable data or reasoning behind it, a valid argument for anything at all.

they probably have not read the Bible from front to back. And if they did, don't put the words together correctly or logically.

filled, bigoted, angry. clueless ideas--even speak them aloud. only difference is, you are running out of places where people take you seriously, or where you can negatively impact the lives of those who do not agree with you. you can STILL keep to one partner of the opposite sex for all your lives, you can STILL be woman-hating, pro-forced birthers. We are just getting realllllllly tired of listening to you. A hint: being in the marketplace of ideas is no guarantee that anyone cares about your ideas, or wants to implement them. It is not a given.

and whahhhhhhhh-- WE want to control EVERYBODY, decide who is, or is not worthy of our approval, making them second-class. If that power is taken away, WE will be second-class. gee, project much?

in school removes their right to pray in school.

They believe they have a right to force others to abide by their religious beliefs, or they are oppressed. This is the same logic used by right-winged religious believers around the world. That's why they are so dangerous. They are incredibly selfish.

Of course it depends on what part of the Bible talks about marriage. There is no single definition in the Bible that strictly states that marriage is between a man and a woman.

As a so-called Christian I say he is totally wrong and I don't know who his god is but my God is ok with marriage, no matter what gender the couple happen to be. IMO I think this would reinforce monogamous marriage and not let open the doors to polygamy. Different species getting married? Now THAT is a joke.

They lose their "right" to bully and repress and generally act like complete assholes. Those are the "rights" those Xtians are concerned about.

14. Which "Biblical" Definition of Marriage?
Tue Mar 26, 2013, 07:01 PM
Mar 2013

He needs to read his Bible and see there are many acceptable definitions of "marriage" in there. I've read Genesis a few times and I don't see any reference to Adam and Eve being "married" so I don't think he can use them as the prototype of a one-man, one-woman marriage.

Can he even wipe himself when necessary?

You become a second class citizen when your discriminatory, hateful bias is not allowed to be the law of the land?

What planet are you from? You can still be hateful, biased and stupid. That will always be your right.

But you are not a 2nd class citizen when we say, your bias has no place in the public sphere.

I have learned on the new and improved politically-correct DU you can no longer express what you want.

That is why as of next month I am stopping my financial contribution to this site and will retire.

but then again sometimes I think that the fundies just assume that nobody else but them actually bothers to read the Bible and knows what it does (or does not) say or believe that they have access to some secret stash of "God knowledge" that only they can access (maybe by reading it backwards or upside down perhaps?)

They play them backwards. Playing the Bible backwards allegedly is the voice of the devil and I bet someone swore they heard that same gender marriage is supported by the devil... and if the devil is for it then God must be against it.

Either that or they're using a badly translated Bible. Who knows?
