Shedding Tears, Minn. GOP Lawmaker’s ‘Heart Breaks’ After Gay Marriage Vote

TOM KLUDT 8:50 AM EDT, FRIDAY MAY 10, 2013

After a bill to pass same-sex marriage in Minnesota cleared an important hurdle on Thursday, a Republican lawmaker wept and said her "heart breaks" for the state.

Following the bill's passage in the Democratic-controlled state House of Represenatives, state Rep. Peggy Scott (R) grew emotional on the floor of the chamber.

“My heart breaks for Minnesota. It’s a divisive issue that divides our state," Scott said as she wiped tears from her face, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune. “It’s not what we needed to be doing at this time. We want to come together for the state of Minnesota, we don’t want to divide it.”

The bill will now move to the Democratic-controlled state Senate, where it is poised to pass on Monday. Minnesota Gov. Mark Dayton (D) has vowed to sign the bill into law.

But not in a gay way. Rep. Peggy Scott has some real issues because who cares
if two adults get married?

Sorry lady - but now, we are all "those kind of people". Get over yourself, and pick out a nice card for the boys down the block - all you need to deal with this "heartbreak" is covered in Emily Post.

Just look at the horrible things that have happened in Connecticut, Delaware, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island, Vermont and Washington.

It's just been bloody chaos and anarchy here in CT since the State has allowed gay people to get married. You can't walk into a store without someone trying to destroy your heterosexual marriage by trying to gay marry you or cause you to have relations with his farm animal.

How much time, energy, and money have people like her spent on campaigns against marriage equality and used it as a wedge issue in political campaigns?

Still waiting for society to "implode" - (that's a word the anti-gay bigots love ) or for the world to come to an end as predicted.

Still waiting...

Let's review what has happened here in Iowa;

- The sky has still not fallen in.
- There are still no rampaging hordes of locusts, beavers, or any other animals eating everything in sight.
- There is still nothing unusual raining out of the sky down here.

Fine, get on the right side of history and support it you dolt. If you believe in freedom and basic rights, they have to apply to ALL the people ALL the time.

I can't stand these bigots, she can take her hateful tears and go fill a lake. There's plenty in MN to fill.

How many states are passing laws that effectively try to outlaw abortion or one of the Carolinas passing a law that says federal gun laws don't apply, or all the states where Republicans previously passed laws banning gay marriage. Or are those not divisive?

It's kind of funny watching how Republicans are incapable of dealing with the tide having turned on allowing same sex marriage.
