"They" want to get my President ..... end of story

Barack Obama won in a landslide, the economy is coming back despite the best attempts
by the republicans to tank it, the market is at an all time high, and the deficit is going down
and those facts do sit well with the republicans. So the word has gone out that they are now
in a full court press to get the President and don't kid yourself the media is helping too ...
I am looking @ you NPR along with the others ...... This attack is well coordinated and
on going and don't kid yourself Issa, Graham, Gohmert, and other wing nuts are the point
people but they have the backing of McConnell, Boner, and the rest of the republican party.

I am calling my gerrymandered in republican congressperson and bitching as soon as I
am done posting this. I am sick of this shit. These are un-American assholes!

I'm open to hear from others on DU as to this WHY?

Is it racially motivated? Is it purely a Dem vs Repug thing?

Or is is something else?

Seems that this topic would be good fodder for discussion - so I'm throwing it out there.

He is a real threat to all those things that they have gotten away with over the years. He really is sincere with changing Washington and transforming this country's ills. He knows what needs to be done to accomplish this and they don't like it (nor do the top 1%, the banksters or the corporations which are the Repugs benefactors). If he is allowed to do what he wants to - this country would be in such good shape - and this would be attributed to a Dem administration - they would never achieve power again. So they have to do everything in their power to not let this happen. They have to discredit him and put roadblocks into everything he wants to do.

They can't let this guy - and here's where the racial motivation comes in - this "black" guy - show them up.

This is what they do. Doesn't matter if the Dem in question is black, white, purple or green. They can't deal with sharing power and, ultimately, they hate, absolutely hate, our democracy. If the non-stop impeachment shenanigans aren't enough, their unwavering commitment to voter suppression should do it for you. It would be nice if the public caught on one of these decades.

It if funny how people forget how merciless they were with Clinton.

I was younger and kind of naive, and never understood how people who were semi-rural in culture could hate "Bubba" as much as they did.

They blamed Clinton of being a murderer and literally being a drug dealer - if they did that with BO people would scream that it was RACISM, but they did it to the white guy, too.

Al Gore, Howard Dean, Hillary ... They just DESTROY the democrat, does not matter what color or whatever.

Senator Bob Dole (R-KS), who in retrospect looks extremely moderate, joked that he was the chaperon meant to stop Clinton having a honeymoon. The media was a big help there too, because by spring 1993 there was the famous "Just Another Failed President?" cover story.

I can't find the quote, but House Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-TX) promised overt hostility towards a Gore White House if Al Gore was declared the winner of the 2000 election. Remember too that DeLay's staff contributed members to the riots outside places where ballots were being counted.

And as for Obama, the GOP's obstructionist policy has long been established, not only in closed-door meetings but in Mitch McConnell's (R-KY) public announcement that the top Republican priority was to make Obama a one-term president. When that plan obviously failed, far from being chastened, the GOP has come back with greater ferocity.

And the press is their handmaiden or lackey, in many cases.

This is the perfect firestorm of convergences for right wing fear and hatred. The laundry list of wack-job adherants to right wing notions is filled with many answers- racism, homophobia, anti-American conspiracy theory mongering and pure, unadulturated hatred for the "other".
These fears and hatred have always been the main concern of extremist elements from the right. In the past, many Americans were informed by a better media and public educational system, so we were better equipped as a nation to resist the lies and measured destruction of the extreme right wingers.
Our news media died the death of 24hr profit models and our educational system has been destroyed by right wing legislation designed to undermine the credibility of educators and the educated.
Even right wing extremists can tell that the damage they have caused is leading to a tipping point of unsustainable incoherence- this is the reason for the recent increase in severity, tone and dishonesty from the extremists on the right. Don't fool yourself- these people hate American progress since the civil war and they would sooner burn down our fair country, than allow democratically elected representatives do the business of the country and the people. The proof is in thier actions and hypocrisy.

...if Republicans keep trying to keep their "scandals" alive. The American public has the attention span of a two-year-old. I was in the waiting room at Audie Murphy a couple of days ago and the TV was on talking about the Boston bombings and I was shocked to see that people were tuning it out and looking for magazines to read. Such a horrific act is already fading into the background for so many of them. If Republicans are still shrill and trying to keep these issues alive long after voters have lost interest, it'll blow up in their faces. People have moved on and want congress concentrating on jobs and things that impact them. Republicans hollering about Benghazi, the AP and the IRS for the next year or two are only going to get people steamed at them. They already have the lowest approval rating of any congress in history.

... a very vocal minority here.

The destructive nature of the GOP has been on full display since Bill Clinton was first elected. Clinton was in many ways a very good president and a man with greatness in him, but he was a foolish boy with the ladies, and they got him on that. However, even if he had been as chaste as a monk, the GOP would have been as relentless in trying to bring him down for something, anything, any lie. They accused Bill and Hillary of murder, for gods' sake.

So here we have Barack Obama, a president with greatness in him, and the GOP leaders take an oath on the day of his inauguration that they will make him a one term president, and failing that, block every proposal he makes. More than being black, he is a Democrat. They won't be able to get him for infidelity unless they park a woman in his bed themselves, but don't worry, they have been busy concocting other things.

The "media" -- meaning the broadcast and cable "news" media -- see nothing but ratings, having few or no journalistic instincts left to them. Ratings, such as might be garnered from episodes of professional wrestling or Jersey Shore or whatever else form of debased entertainment. They seemingly do not give a damn that the stakes for us all are as high as they are -- day after day I see variations on the theme of "let's you and him fight," as if it were all theater and not a matter of life and death.

As for those here who decry Obama's every action and join with the GOP in calls for resignations, impeachments, hearings: WHY DO YOU IMAGINE THAT ANYTHING COMING FROM THE GOP HAS ANY TRUTH OR MERIT IN IT? You do not have to be an "Obamabot" to recognize that the GOP has a track record of lies and destruction going back over 20 years, you just have to have not parked your brains someplace else.

"They" are going to try impeachment this year.

They have done everything their money can buy, to slander and impeach the president we voted for. They have obstructed everything we as voters support. They keep screaming about constitutional violations, What about our constitutional rights? What agency would we file a complaint to? How can we prosecute? There is certainly an abundance of evidence. Let them have to prove their accusations.
