a damp squib (British & Australian)

an event which people think will be exciting but which is disappointing when it happens
Usage notes: A squib is a type of firework (= a small container filled with chemicals which explodes to produce bright lights and loud noises) and if it becomes wet, it will not explode.

There is just a big disconnect between what they scream about and what Barrack Obama is. Because of this, the mushy middle tends to break just by a hair to the President.

But, it still works for the Rs, because this is what they do.

They turn EVERYTHING to shit.

They know we as a people have an innate cynicism of government, and by turning the whole process to shit, people get agitated and just throw their hands up and say "THEY ARE ALL THE SAME!"

Then, come election time, like a bunch of pods, every republican spouts the same counter balanced bullshit, "WE LOVE AMERICA/GOVERNMENT SUCKS!" Democrats prattle on about policy, and the public breaks to the republican's well heeled line of shit more often than not.

They get this - turn it it shit, and in the end they win more than their share of 51 or 52 to 49 or 48 races.

you really need to wake up.

If our reps, including the president, don't start firing back, expect a repeat of 2010. No matter what the stupid popularity poll says
