GOP Kills Veterans Jobs Bill, Grants Themselves a Vacation

This morning the bill was to be debated in the Senate, but Jeff Sessions raised a budget point of order, which halted the debate until the Senate could vote to override it. His argument was the usual Republican claptrap about how we don't have a budget, how spending bills have to originate in the now-recessed House of Representatives, and on and on. You've heard it. There's nothing new.

Here's what it would have done, via The Hill:

The Veterans Jobs Corp Act would have created new job-training programs to help veterans find work in targeted fields such as national park conservation, historic preservation projects, police work and firefighting, among others.

Those are jobs we need, and jobs veterans need. But the Senate fell 2 votes short of the usual Senate supermajority they need to pass anything these days, despite Senators Snowe, Brown, Collins, Heller, and Murkowski voting with the Democrats.

He hasn't even passed a Farm Bill yet.

In October of last year, he said he would take it up after the election.
He didn't.
Here it is, more than 8 months later, and still no Farm Bill.

Instead of working on it last winter after Obama was re-elected, Boehnor waited until the next Congress formed, in January of 2013.
And the only thing the Republicans can think of doing with the Farm Bill is attaching an amendment to it to get rid of Obamacare, as they call it.

As long as Boehnor acts this way, he ensures that the people of America will wake up and take action and take the Speaker's gavel out of his hand next year.
I don't think Boehnor will be the Speaker of the House in 2015 since he refuses to pass any major legislation without an amendment calling for Obamacare to be overturned.

These people (and the voters who keep electing them) are destroying our country. We have too many urgent problems to have our nation's time wasted by the Republican obstructionist agenda.
