2. Rasmussen tracking now stands out like a sore thumb

Conservative pollster Rasmussen, who has attended numerous fundraisers for Republicans (none for Democrats) this year, has Romney leading by 4%. Only he gives Romney an advantage as we speak.

Here's a Media Matters article detailing how much money Rasmussen pockets off these events: http://mediamatters.org/blog/201203300007

3. Obama leads in women, latinos and younger voters. Surprised it isn't bigger.

I don't believe it's that close.

What did the polls say 11/3/08? I thought Obama was up like 51-49 over McCain, and it was not even close.

GOTV.

Then this nation is truly a piece of history. Truly sad.

In an intelligent nation that poll would be minimum 90%/10%.

That is close enough to "Diebold".

9. The problem is that these are registered voters.

Whenever they switch to likely voters, the advantage seems to go to the Rethugs-- so be prepared to see lower numbers when that happens.

at this point, polls using "likely voters" right now are far off because they use samples representative of the last (2010) election, which was way more RW than the general election will be.

13. But I think they will keep doing that -- weighting samples by the former percentages of Dems

vs. Rethugs.

The system doesn't do a very good job of adjusting for changes.

On several smaller sites I post on regularly threads were started by Cons when the 1st Gallup poll came out. Then Gallup was reliable and the Gold Standard of polls. Now, Gallup is Liberal and biased.

Gallup has acted funny for a while, not sure if they made a correction, but now they are right in line with all the other polls out there save for Rasmussen which is alone as an outlier now.
