Ted Cruz and Jim DeMint Privately Admit That Republicans Won’t Defund Obamacare

Ted Cruz and Jim DeMint Privately Admit That Republicans Won’t Defund Obamacare

Wall Street Journal Editor Paul Gigot blew the lid off the Republicans’ Obamacare bluff by saying on Fox News that even Ted Cruz and Jim DeMint are privately admitting that Republicans can’t defund the ACA.

-snip- (video)

While discussing what the Republicans are hoping to accomplish by tying Obamacare to funding the government, Gigot said, “I’ve talked to these people privately. They don’t think going to. Even Ted Cruz and Jim Demint and these guys, they say well, we’re not going to be able to defund Obamacare.” Daniel Henninger of the WSJ added that Cruz’s goal was to launch a grassroots uprising against Obamacare, just like what happened with the threat of military strikes in Syria.

Cruz and Rand Paul tried to stage a big tea party rally in DC to defund Obamacare,10efund-obamacare-rally-attracts-dozens-medicare-elderly-people.html”> but their event drew hundreds, not the thousands that they expected. It had become apparent that Cruz’s efforts have been a total failure, and that is why he is trying so hard to cut and run from his own campaign to defund Obamacare.

Once again, the Republican base has been scammed by their own elected officials. Republicans know that they can’t defund Obamacare. This is all a scheme to raise money, and get Republican voters fired up for the 2014 election. Cruz was also hoping to become the leader of a popular rebellion that would carry him to the 2016 Republican presidential nomination. Expect lots of tough talk about defunding Obamacare from Ted Cruz, but it’s all bulls**t, and he knows it.

Game is being played. Perhaps when Obamacare is up and running those who have taken the stand of defunding it will get their just rewards. Defeated and never hear their names again. Might make the House look as though they have been handled like puppets.

If half of what they say would come true, seems they'd let it pass to prove it'll be a failure.

OH, that's right, they are afraid people will like it and then they won't be able to repeal it. It's just too easy to see thru their angst.

By the time it fails, the disarray will be so complete that single payer universal care will be the only possible replacement.

I surely do wish we had gone in that direction directly.

But apparently the for-profit approach must be attempted first.

10. Why Republicans are afraid of "Obamacare".

Why are Republicans scared of Obamacare? Because, they know it might work.

Looking past the over 40 attempts to defund the Affordable Care Act, “Obamacare” to those who don’t even know the correct title, has anyone else noticed the tremendous fear the Republicans have that this Act might actually work in favor of the President and United States? Let’s take a look.

First, what I don’t understand is this: If Republicans are so sure that “Obamacare” won’t work - why don’t they just close their mouths and let it play out? Wouldn’t that work to their benefit if it fails? Or is the problem that their, the Republicans, greatest fear is that it will actually surpass the success the Democrat and Republican supporters have predicted?

Second, Republicans are wasting time, energy, paper and tax dollars to repeal an Act that they simply do not have the votes for. Congress, sure they can repeal it, however we have a Senate that makes it almost impossible to repeal the Act. Even if they did vote to repeal, Republicans do not have the 67 votes to override the veto by the President.

So the hard truth to swallow to all those non-believers is that the law is the law and in January the law is in full swing.

Already the law has provided 54 million Americans free access to preventative services like check-ups and mammograms. Over six million seniors have saved over six billion dollars on their prescription medications. Three millions young adults, so far, have been able to keep their coverage under their parents’ health coverage. In the great state of California premiums for the law’s new insurance options have come in considerably LOWER than expected. California represents one-fifth of the United States economy. Finally, more than 13 million Americans received more than one billion dollars in rebates from companies that over charged them.

The fact is that if we want the Affordable Care Act to work, “Obamacare”, then it will. Just like the Bush administration launching a prescription drug plan that Democrats voted against. Dems didn’t attempt to repeal over 40 times. They didn’t see it as fair to punish Americans with higher costs on drugs to prove a political point. As the Republican’s see this Act build momentum to success they are doing what they know how to do best: by scaring the living heck out of everyone.

Another fact is that even Paul Ryan has acknowledged that this successful implementation will add roughly $2 trillion dollars of the $4.6 trillion in net deficit reduction in his own budget plan. Ryan had planned to use the $1.8 trillion in tax hikes from “Obamacare” and the cliff deal in order to fund a tax code reform, with fewer loopholes, deductions and brackets.

In conclusion it is well known that this implementation will have some minor issues. With some poorly written provisions due to human error and the fact that some Republican governors will refuse to accept the government’s assistance in implementing, there will be minor push back. There is now plenty of evidence that if the United States embraces this Act and works together to implement it, it will work. If we can separate ourselves from the non-sense in Washington known as politics, shut off media outlets who don’t tell Americans the truth and speak up and be heard to those scared Representatives who are seriously endangering the health care of millions while at the same time making a complete fool of themselves and their party, we will be able to have a health care system in place that works for us.

The biggest beneficiaries of Medicare Part D are the pharmaceutical companies and the Democrats that voted against it knew it. But since it passed, to overturn it would mean no drug coverage AT ALL. No one wants to go back to that. So we go with what we have, as imperfect as it may be, and hope to make it better in the future. The GOP hasn't really offered anything in place of Obamacare that will help the working poor or even the ever shrinking middle class.
