2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumThe GOP should be damaged beyond repair!
We know the media continue to promote the GOP otherwise it wouldn't be in existence. Some our own help them along the way.
However, before 2014 something really damaging needs to happen to them so that they become extinct. Ideas?

(22,651 posts)republicans are pretty good they spend (from their political charity scam)billions for lawyers & paid lobbyists, into whatever they grab in Americas federal and state funds to make sure it's "legal" .
But I bet they're aren't perfect with keeping every single scam against 'the people' legal. The only thing that could slow them down are legal charges, hundreds of court cases, local, state and federal. not one at a time. hundreds.

(14,564 posts)this is by far the most fractured the party has been in my life.
And, they are "unpopular" because they can't help themselves from saying that they think now.
But, here is the thing.
They still are controlling the media messaging AND their framing resonates strongly with the general public.
So, yes, they are infighting and yes there are countless Rs every day who say some stupid ass thing.
But, they have the entire country on edge over the federal budget, and there is this hovering sense that the country is constantly on the verge of falling apart because of our debt.
And, because of this their screaming about all these people "taking handouts" resonates.
And, because of their screaming about how all of these people are "taking handouts" we remain a pubic hair from cuts to SS.
The republican party is on fire, we have a democratic president and senate and somehow there is no affirmative gains for the country and a never ending string of attacks to further attack the interests of the average American.
