Republican Governors Association: Christie Win Shows Republicans Can Win In Every State

DANIEL STRAUSS – NOVEMBER 5, 2013, 8:27 PM EST

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie's (R) reelection Tuesday shows Republicans can win in "every state," the chairman and vice chairman of the Republican Governors Association said in a joint statement.

The statement came shortly after the race was called for Christie.

"Governor Chris Christie’s overwhelming victory proves that voters are looking for confident and competent leadership," Republican Governors Association Chairman Bobby Jindal (LA) and Vice Chairman Scott Walker (WI) said in a joint statement. "His victory also proves that Republicans can compete and win in every state. His tenure as chief executive has placed a premium on achieving results over scoring political points. We are proud to congratulate Governor Christie on being rewarded by the voters with a much-deserved second term and look forward to his continued hard work on behalf of the people of New Jersey."

The truth is that Christie seems to play well in NJ for some reason. Nobody really knows how well his schtick would play in other blue states. Republicans are just puffing out their chests. I say that we let them persist in their delusions.

Oh, yeah. Virginia...

There is no form of sentient life on this planet that is dumber than a Republican. And frankly, I've seen some forms of moss and algae that were brighter than some Tea Partiers.

At least the algae doesn't say anything...

Jim Douglas, and Shumlin was not a shoe in during the last race.

That being said a VT republican is sometimes a wee bit different.

n/t. Christie's record is much more conservative on balance- but since he doesn't flaunt it much most people don't seem to notice it.

The primaries.

Spend a bit of time on conservative message boards. Christie is considered a RINO who is responsible for Obama winning. He's hated by the base.

He can pull a Romney and swing far right but his base won't buy it.

A lot can change in a couple of years but as of now Christie winning big in NJ only shows that he can win in NJ.

and/or publicly accept federal aid. That could've sunk his re-election as gov and thus his chances for POTUS at the same time. He seems to be a bit more pragmatic and able to occasionally set aside politics for the people, so credit due.

And probably not in Ohio- though that would be close. There are lots of blue collar Midwesterners who learned a lot from the Bush era.

They'll never learn until he knows his true colors.

Let's face it. Chris Christie won tonight because he embraced Obama. That's why he got a sizable number of black votes.

And, he benefitted from Hurricane Sandy.

And, the Jersey Democrats are weak, lazy cowards. That's why he won.

But, it's New Jersey.

New Jersey is NOT a bellwether state like PA, VA, or OH.

Republicans are delusional.

After all, he ran for Senate in 1994 trying to place him TO THE LEFT of Ted Kennedy. Republicans can win in "blue" states if they appear to be "moderate" but often what they present themselves to be during an election and how they govern are often two quite different things. Democratic turnout (or lack thereof), of course, plays an important part as well.
