as yet, uninvolved citizens . .

If the turnout rates are low enough, there is room for change.

... the 50 -65 -75% of potential voters who don't bother in any given election.

"Not the Republican" will get some people to hold their noses and vote in the Presidential election, but doesn't do squat for State Assembly or US Senator candidates.

If our Party could agree to advocate for ...

... Medicare for All, including dental, optical and hearing aids

... Strengthening and expanding Social Security (lift cap, apply tax to capital gains, lower eligibility age)

... Living wage

... Reduced military and spying budgets

... More progressive taxation

... Legalized marijuana

.... we could inspire a healthy chunk of those who see no reason to bother to vote now becaue neither Party offers them squat.
