On the 50th anniversary of President Kennedy's death the right-wing is attempting to claim his legacy for their own. After excoriating President Kennedy as soft on communism and a socialist they now call him a conservative, the cruelest cut of all.
This is yet another example of un-Christian like Christian's calling non-communists communists. One of the biggest lies they tout is President Kennedy's tax cuts. Like all great lies it is wrapped in a kernel of truth. Kennedy did indeed cut taxes, but unlike tax give-a-ways to the filthy rich, President Kennedy's tax cuts were skewed heavily in favor of the working man. That's why they worked and "Trickle Down Economics" has never worked. Not once.

The top 2.4% received 17.4% of the tax cut, and the top 0.4% received just 6% of it. 1. In most cases ...

a conservative idea is one that liberals had 20 or more years before, and finally they promote it as their idea.

Like the idea of a female vice president as a "viable" candidate (2008 was their first attempt at what was done in 1984 by Mondale).

Sarah Palin's true calling was as a sportscaster - there is footage of her doing it on YouTube, and she was okay - but because she refused to move to Connecticut, we've all suffered.

8. Connecticut's "gain"

was that she didn't go there.

So, if she had gone there, and got a career, they would have been "blessed" with her. And thus, they would have had to put up with her. Thus, since she didn't go there, it was their gain.

And since she didn't get that career, she went into politics ... and became our nation's "LOSS" ...

2. After spending 50 years, attacking what conservatives, sneeringly call

"the Kennedy myth," they have surrendered and declared Kennedy conservative. Yes I agree I have seen this on many sites.
Sorry, I had to stop all television/radio years ago, so I have no idea what is going on in that arena.

We were suppose to not only forget, but if we remembered, we must remember JFK and RFK in a bad light.

They have failed. We have not forgotten, and will not and we have taught our children to remember.

3. Try as they might

JFK was the opposite of all the repukes stand for. They can keep their Reagan and we can point out the stark contrasts, so they can never co-opt JFK as their own.

Reagan was image, no substance and no intellect.

Kennedy had innate intelligence, but also an inquisitive mind. As David McCullough said on 11/22/2013: he was a student of history... he read history, he wrote history. Reagan studied cue cards!

Kennedy had charm, charisma, class, wit and made for TV good looks. No one can light a candle to his press conferences which exhibited his quick mind and self-deprecating wit

Kennedy served his country in WWII; Reagan made TV ads about the war effort.

Kennedy was the real and complete deal. Reagan was an actor.

Kennedy stood up to (and against) the generals during the Cuban Missile Crisis, he distrusted them after they led him astray with the Bay of Pigs*, he planned to change the policy on Vietnam (which had been inherited from the Eisenhower administration) after the '64 election and he outlined a foreign policy in his commencement speech at American University just months before his murder that was antithetical to US imperialism which is why I am convinced that the MIC/CIA took him out and Oswald was a patsy. By contrast, Reagan did what the puppet masters who put him in office told him to do.

* Kennedy took full responsibility and didn't whine or complain... recall: "Victory has a hundred fathers, but defeat is an orphan. ... I am the responsible officer of the government"

Finally, Kennedy was LIBERAL and unabashedly so, for as he said: I believe in human dignity as the source of national purpose, in human liberty as the source of national action, in the human heart as the source of national compassion and in the human mind as the source of our invention and our ideas. It is, I believe, this faith in our fellow citizens as individuals, as people that lies at the heart of the liberal faith; for liberalism is not so much a party creed or set of fixed platform promises as it is an attitude of the mind and heart, a faith in man's ability through the experiences of his reason and judgment to increase for himself and his fellow man the amount of justice, and freedom and brotherhood which all human life deserves.

For one brief shining moment, we had a great man, a great liberal and a great Democrat like President Kennedy.
For far too long we've suffered the consequences of a fraud like Reagan!

7. If you want to have fun and see a "conservative's" head blow off

retort by saying, that is OK, Reagen would be a democrat today ...

A dozen tax increases.
Amnesty for illegal aliens.
Cut and run from Beirut.

That always gets their attention.
