The key is consenting adults. If everyone is cool with it and no-one gets hurt, what business is it of mine how many people marry each other?

Polygamy is traditionally part and parcel of patriarchal family arrangements. It almost always means one man and several wives, with the man as head of the family. (There are exceptions, but this is the rule.) So it would make sense that a right winger would find such an arrangement to be more "natural" than gay marriage. Modern gay marriage is premised upon similar principles as those that underlie the modern view of straight marriage: mutual partnership rather than a husband's control over a wife or wives.

Polygamy means more than one partner. Polygyny is multiple female partners of one male and Polyandry is multiple male partners of one female. That's how I understand it, I could be wrong.

I"m talking of historical reality, not language, and historically and to this day most polygamy takes the form of patriarchal polygyny. Polyandry is pretty rare, and modern polyamory can take any form.
