HUNTER WALKER DECEMBER 18, 2013, 10:19 AM EST
Netflix released a trailer Wednesday for the upcoming Mitt Romney campaign documentary "Mitt" that includes footage of him nearly choking up as he and his family planned his concession speech on election night.
"Someone have a number for the President?" Romney is shown asking his aides.
The trailer also shows behind-the-scenes footage of debate prep and the campaign trail, including Romney attempting to iron the sleeve of a tuxedo while wearing it. "Mitt" was directed by Greg Whiteley, who was granted extensive access to the Romney campaign.
"Mitt" premieres at the Sundance Film Festival Jan. 17. It debuts on Netflix Jan. 24. Watch the trailer below.

(34,384 posts)updo. You could just tell they knew they were going to win and in so doing oust those awful Negroes from the address that was rightfully theirs. I still smile thinking about it.

(347 posts)Yeah, he lost and cried in his tea, but, I will tell democrats not to let their guard down. Just because the R party couldn't get their man (LOL) into the White House, they will continue with small gains state by state, and keep fronting their absolute worst in order to control the house and senate. We Wisconsinites already have a house full of rats and roaches sitting in our government. They cutting all kinds of social programs that were put in place to help the poor. They've gone as far as to bust union labor too.
It's sickening.
Even though I'm on a fixed income, I'm going to send my $$$ to the democrat party, that's what people need to do, it's basically how our president was reelected, small donations, and lots of them. Every little bit helps. We citizens need to counter the big bucks spent here by outside R PACS.
People here seem to go on a person's record. Walker's record is looking pretty spotty right now. He was to create 250,000 jobs during his 1st. term, but, instead of Wisconsin gaining, it's slip sliding away. We were 32nd. in job creation when he assumed office, now we're 44th., ooooops. Add to that, Wisconsin is lagging behind other states too.
As a side here, Walker bitched when outside people came here to support union workers, but was silent when the KOCH BROS. spent millions on misinformation, and was even PWND by a prankster at the Beast. Walker is a dufus, just like mittens was.

(3,266 posts)psyche to realize that you really are NOT the anointed one, as you've been told. His whole belief system was turned upside down in that one shattering moment when it dawned on him that he actually did not win. I could aaaaaalmost feel a little sympathy for the guy, if it wasn't so richly just and righteous

(10,283 posts)isn't the idea that almost 50% of Americans wanted to elect someone so divorced from the mathematical reality of the 2014 election terrifying?

(86,602 posts)released the night of the election, it was obvious that both mittens and the wannbe queen had been crying. I guess it was just too much for this film. Amazing how a story can be polished up in the editing room.

(2,091 posts)I just finished reading "Double Down" and really enjoyed feeling like a fly on the wall reading about some of the back room goings on. I was certainly surprised to read how so many people didn't like Mitt on the repug side of the aisle and were hoping he wouldn't get the nomination. But then, look at the clowns who were running. I highly recommend this book to anyone who followed the repug primaries and the actual campaign, especially the debates. Lots of background information.

(15,185 posts)Nate's blog was mostly an average of that polling and it was clearly showing the President winning.
The RW tried to run from the numbers, but Nate Silver and that professor from Princeton (forgot his name) and a few other composite sites had the President winning by a comfortable margin.

(65,342 posts)but this clip proves he was trying to come up with one right then and there--in the clip he is asking what sorts of things one would say in a concession speech! He even says that he doesn't have the president's number because he hadn't thought about needing to have it.
I think he really believed himself to be the fulfillment of the White Horse Prophecy, and he was so firm in his "faith" that despite any poll numbers, he just assumed that God would pull it out of the fire for him at the last minute.
I also think he assumed that Rove's dirty tricks would fix the numbers for him at the last minute if God didn't come through. Rove sure thought he had the fix in--that's why he wouldn't believe it when FOX declared Ohio for Obama.
Just imagine the arrogance to keep the president and the whole country waiting well past midnight just because he refused to believe he really had to concede. He wasn't just spending that extra time writing the unprepared concession speech. I am quite sure he was trying to give God--or Rove--enough time to work the miracle that he just could not believe wouldn't come through somehow.

(26,060 posts)that Mitt would never have given this kind of access unless he was 100% convinced, right up to the very end, that he was going to be President. I know it makes me a very imperfect person to find humor in this but I can't help myself.

(4,572 posts)I think that quote alone shows the ugly sense of entitlement the entire Romney family had. "How dare this President not just roll over for them and quit. Doesn't he know who Mitt is?"
