Weekly Standard Editor Bill Kristol said on Sunday that the Republican Party had already found a two-word solution New Jersey Gov. Chris Christies problems: Jeb Bush.
During a panel discussion on ABCs This Week, Kristol, who was recently hired as a contributor to the network, shrugged off new evidence that Christie may have not told the truth about knowing the George Washington Bridge had been closed.
Having talked to various Republican establishment types Im pro-Tea Party but anyway, the establishment types over the last 24 hours when you ask them about the Christie situation, theres a two-word answer: Jeb Bush, the neoconservative pundit opined. And Im really struck by how much Christie was kind of the establishment donor-class favorite, I think, for the Republican presidential nomination in 2016. They are beginning to, maybe foolishly, they are beginning to write them off.
We will see a big drumbeat of Jeb should get into the race, he predicted.
Republican strategist, Ana Navarro, who is a close friend of the former Florida governor, said that she hoped he would run.
He would bring so much to the debate, she insisted. He would be a game changer when it comes to Hispanic votes.

(3,226 posts)I do not think if America wants to see a rematch of a 1990's race. Clinton against some one else then it will feel new but a Bush vs Clinton will be played as a rematch and the press will not drop that narrative oping the door for a 3rd party.

(6,262 posts)If so, then Jebbie wins IMO.
Hillary fans will stick with her, but more conservative Dems will go bloomberg and Jeb gets the plurality and the Electoral College vote.

(35,699 posts)Any Jeb Bush run for President would necessarily involve revisiting the 2000 Florida debacle and the sorry role which Katherine Harris and Jeb Bush played in stealing the election for his brother.

I've predicted Clinton/Bush for a long time. Christie scandal only makes it more likely. The name recognition and power of the Clintons (love them, hate them, or don't care) is matched only by the Bushes. And if Clinton doesn't pick Julian Castro as her VP, she's in trouble. Jeb's wife frees him from having to run with a Hispanic VP. Expect a popular woman.
And before opining on American Royalty, understand, it is only that MONEY is what counts and what elects politicians.
Next in line, Name Recognition...meaning they've been nationally vetted...warts and all.
And thirdly, Riches ... enough to not have to work for 2 years or so while campaigning. There are others, but this is the Trifecta that only these two individuals posses...now.
