Rand Paul: Texas Could Go Blue If GOP Doesn't Change

Rand Paul: Texas Could Go Blue If GOP Doesn't Change

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) on Saturday warned Republican lawmakers that they need to adapt to changing public opinion.

"What I do believe is Texas is going to be a Democrat state within 10 years if we don't change," he said at a Harris County, Tex. GOP dinner, according to Politico. "That means we evolve, it doesn't mean we give up on what we believe in, but it means we have to be a welcoming party."

Paul spoke about immigration reform and explained his approach to policy for the "touchy" issue.

"We won't all agree on it," he said. "But I'll tell you, what I will say and what I'll continue to say, and it's not an exact policy prescription … but if you want to work and you want a job and you want to be part of America, we'll find a place for you."

He's right. All they have to do is explain it clearly.

DO to keep TX in their column. I don't trust those motherf/ckers further than I can toss an elephant. They are nothing more than festering slimebuckets of neofascism dressed up in far rightwing religion. "F/CK 'EM!"

Although it would be great to go blue, I just don't see it happening. I'm sure that there are a lot of great democrats in the state, TX4obama included. But because of all the hype and publicity and the stupidity, lying, cheating and ignorant right wing, the crooked politicians WILL find a way to keep it red. I for one will never visit that state. And then there's the idiot Rick Perry, that ran for president that could not name the three branches of the government. What do you think that says to the rest of the country? Oh, I could go on and on and on. Bush would be the next point.

TX, I hope you're right, but I say move the hell out of there while you can.

You can do a google search and bring up all kinds of articles about the old white guys dying off and growth of the latino voters.

Personally I think if we can work hard we can see some change with Wendy Davis. The money is coming in for Greg Abbott though too - and even though he's a pretty weak candidate republicans nation-wide are going to send him money because they do not want to lose Texas.

It's definitely not going to be easy to make this happen but eventually we will get there.

how do you welcome back the millions voters the GOP has already pissed off?
And all their efforts to disenfranchise don't scream "welcome".

In other words, Paul, you're saying "we need to come up with better lies, because the truth is, we have practically no use for gays and minorities, and no plans to change that attitude, but they'll never vote for us as long as we continue to publicly deride them as little more than the product of pond scum. So I'm open to suggestions."

Personally, I think he’s off by about 8 years. He says that Republicans should be more welcoming to “people of all races. We need to welcome people of all classes — business class, working class.”

Well, a good start would be to stop calling people by classes like we’re still in some kind of feudalism around here. And you might want to mention hooter toters. Y’all done hacked off a whole mess of us.

There’s a meme I’ve been saving just for when Ron Paul of Looneytarism comes up. Ta da! It’s now.
