2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumDon't be stupid! Vote in 2014!
We cannot repeat the same mistake we made in 2010 by sitting out!
To many people, including people here on DU, moped and complained about both parties being the same. That thinking allowed the tea party fascists to take over the House of Reps, Governorships, and state legislatures across the country. If we let them win this year, we lose important things we take for granted, such as the right to vote, right to unionize, right to contraceptives and abortion services, right to practice different religions or no religion at all, and net neutrality. Yes, the GOP is siding with censoring the internet, just like the Tories in the U.K. already have!
Remember, we have progressives candidates like Shenna Bellows, Dave Domina, Jeff Merkley, Tom Udall, and Ed Markey who actually care about the middle class and are truly progressive. The Democratic Party is still there for us.
I want everybody here on this website to get as motivated as we did in 2006, 2008, and 2012. Donate to candidates, join grassroots campaigns, commit to phone banking, and most importantly, get yourselves, your friends, and your families to the polls.
Look up candidates through the DSCC, DCCC, DGA, Progressive Change Campaign Comittee, Sierra Club, and other sites that show who to support.
Don't worry about Hillary in 2016 right now! Concentrate on 2014! GOTV!
Stay alert, stay active!

(3,544 posts)I've been saying this for months. We need to get the word out. The GOP must be stopped, before we lose another right.

Too many seem to forget that Obama got a lot done when he had Pelosi to work with.

(45,319 posts)of thing. Same for CA to our South, WA to our North. The more conservative States with lots of 'moderates' and 'independents' seem to have had poor turn out and more conservative results. It was regional. It was a problem I'm hoping that those of you in such areas have addressed with better election laws and massive voter registration, but somehow I doubt that has happened.....
