Elizabeth Warren’s Book Tour: 'Run, Liz, run!'

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — At the debut event of Elizabeth Warren’s book tour this week, the moderator at a Barnes & Noble off Manhattan’s Union Square asked what she said was the most-submitted question from the senator’s fans in the audience: “Will you please run for president?”

“Run, Liz, run!” one woman hollered, as the room broke out in cheers and applause.

When a smiling Warren responded, “I’m not running for president,” the audience collectively let out a disappointed, “Aww.”

It’s a question that the first-term Massachusetts Democrat is being asked over and over again as she promotes her newest book, “A Fighting Chance.” Here at the First Parish church in Cambridge, a member of the audience tried a slightly different tack: “You’ve said a number of times that you do not plan to run for president. What can we say tonight to change your mind?”

The first stops of her cross-country book tour this week in New York City and Cambridge offered a vivid snapshot of the intense, passionately liberal following Warren has amassed in the course of a few years, as she has become a national political celebrity. Her supporters are pledging that regardless of her decision on 2016, Warren will be a political force that any candidate in the Democratic field — including Hillary Clinton — will have to contend with.

...because she's not a dissembling politician, right? She says what she means.

So, given the vacuum, I'll go with Hillary Clinton.

It's good to have such a strong bench in our Dem Party, particularly with minorities and women, ready for 2016.
