2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumAs Promised, a Wendy Davis Thread, Because She is Wonderful
Ok, so I started a Julian Castro in 2016 thread over in GD, and someone said I should concentrate on Wendy Davis, so I went to Wendy Davis's site and gave $50. Here is her site.

And here are lots of free smilies for her, too:
And I still think Julian Castro would be a good choice for the Democratic Presidential ticket in 2016 and it is never too early to start thinking about these things.

(1,696 posts)that Leticia has been out doing more campaigning than Wendy
.I'm getting concerned that she is letting a great opportunity slip thru her fingers
It's almost like she doesn't really want to win
same thing I noticed with Bill White
sad that we can't get democrats to run for governor who are better at campaigning
.or get MUCH better advisors.

(30 posts)if you don't do events and MEET your supporters...Wendy has cancelled out on at least 4 events in North Texas that I know of...all at the last minute....not a good sign of good management/handlers.
She is not in the public eye,,,,she is NOT motivating people....she is basically non-existent and a non-starter....which is sad since she had such great backing a year ago.
Seems to me her campaign has some serious issues and really do not understand how to stay relevant and in the news.
Leticia Van de Putte, she GETS it...Wendy would be well-served to follow her example.
I will not be surprised when Leticia wins and Wendy loses.
I am not a fan of Battleground Texas...they ONLY care about Wendy, no one else matters,,,,and they do not understand how big Texas is, nor how diverse. They have this very narrow view and they are about to fail spectacularly...based on what I have seen and heard up to this point.
There may be time to prove me wrong....will wait and see.

(28,254 posts)I'm really getting weary of all the non-stop trashing of Wendy and her campaign here at DU; it's gone way beyond anything resembling constructive criticism at this point. If she makes a major blunder every day from now until election day (which, of course, she won't), Wendy will still be infinitely better than Greg Abbott (talk about somebody without a visible campaign). She's worth fighting for, she's worthy of our best efforts. Bellyaching on a Democratic site doesn't count as "best efforts," as far as I'm concerned.

(30 posts)trashing her campaign?
She can't win unless the voters come out.
Voters won't come out unless they have something TO VOTE FOR and are motivated by her stance on issues.
Voting AGAINST Abbott is not a strong enough reason to come and vote.
Other than education, she hasn't said much of anything ABOUT anything...what is there to VOTE FOR?
What is there to MOTIVATE the voters to get off their butt and make an effort to vote?
How is asking these questions detrimental to Wendy's campaign? If they don't ask these questions and answer them effectively, I can see Leticia will win with 56% of the vote and Wendy will lose with 44% of the vote.
It's about MOTIVATING voters to get out and vote....door knocking and phone calling will help, but it won't convince an unmotivated person to vote.
Hell, I'm active in local clubs and I'm barely motivated to vote for her...if she was in a run-off, I would seriously consider voting for her opponent.
In real estate it is all about location, location, location.....in politics it is all about motivate, motivate, motivate....without motivation you got nothing.

(1,365 posts)Abbott is 11% ahead of Wendy even though he has made really stupid mistakes. It's early. A lot of people don't know her yet. Battleground Texas is running harder than I've seen any campaign run so hopefully that will change.

(4,309 posts)I really admire her and would just love to see her win. Sent her a campaign contribution from here in Maryland, too. Understand she's dealing with quite a smear campaign.
STAND WITH WENDY!

There is still a long way to November. I could not attend the Wendy/Willie bash in Houston recently. It was $20,000 per couple!! But she has held other events that were not nearly as expensive. I hope she has a really thick skin, and I wish she could connect with some good joke writers. She needs to be more forceful in her denunciations of the current state of affairs in Texas.
