Related: About this forumDo you want to Stop War? It's simple.
Take profit out of the equation.
Make it a sacrifice for all Americans. Make it a financial sacrifice for businesses involved.
Instant Peace.

(13,685 posts)War sure doesn't profit the actual people who sacrifice their lives.
It profits only the businesses involved in the machinery. So all we are asking is tax the machinery.

(8,224 posts)But I don't think it is enough. The bottom line is that we (the people) need to stop seeing the use of military force as the definition of "strong leadership". Mostly because it isn't "strong leadership" at all, for an American President with overwhelming fire power at his / her fingertips, use of military force is a simple fallback when other ideas are lacking, and when you don't want to spend a lot of time explaining things. Blowing things up is easy, far too easy to my mind. It is almost always a popular answer and rarely questioned before large collections of flag draped coffins start coming home.

(1,333 posts)Is to make our politicians fight in the wars they promote. I just don't mean sitting in some war office miles away from the front line. I am talking about putting them in it. This may not be as effective since our wars are mainly fought by proxies(see Syria and Libya) and drones. So that is why the second way is needed.
Enacting a huge tax increase to pay for every cent of the war up front. No longer should it be tolerated to put the cost of current wars on future generations. This time, I am not to keen on making it very progressive cos I want as many people to be hurt by the tax increase and then those people will go to the voting booth the next election and vote out the people starting and promoting the wars.
Do this and 99% of the wars started by the idiot politicians will not be started or 90% of republicans in office will be voted out the next election cycle.
